We are excited for the 24-25 school year! Our staff want to provide a positive educational experience that challenges your child to develop his/her full potential. We are pleased to have you as a partner to assist your child in meeting their educational goals.

We are delighted to have parents and students back on campus soon! We are having a few events starting this week that we wanted to make you aware of in hopes that you will attend.

On Tuesday, August 13 from 9-10 and Wednesday, August 14 from 1-2, we will have a Kindergarten Academy for rising kindergarteners and their parents. Please meet us in the Media Center.

On Friday, August 16 from 11:30-12:30 in the courtyard next to I building our PTO is hosting Popsicles with PTO. This will be a meet and mingle with parents who volunteer at the school. We want your participation at special events, working in classrooms and chaperoning on field trips. Our PTO loves to celebrate our students and show their appreciation to staff.

On Thursday, August 22 from 12-2 or 5-7 join us for Meet the Teacher Orientation. This is a time to visit your child's classroom to meet your child’s teacher and drop off school supplies. Please stop by the cafeteria to sign up for bus transportation, complete lunch applications, sign up for before/after school care, purchase Summersill spirit wear, join the PTO and so much more. Colvanellis Ice Cream truck will also be on site.

Post cards with teacher assignments were mailed out on August 7. Kindergarten and prek students will receive their teacher assignments later this week.

Please sign up for Parent Portal. You can monitor your child's grades and attendance within the portal. https://onslow.powerschool.com/public/. You can contact Jennifer Fountain, data manager at jennifer.fountain@onslow.k12.nc.us to assist with this process. She will look up your child's ID number when you email her the completed form and copy of your ID.

Are you a parent looking for ways to contribute to Summersill Elementary? There are several opportunities for parents to get involved and support our Eagle family. Please review each opportunity below.

* Parent Teacher Organization: This group meets in person and sends in special treats for staff throughout the year

* Parent Volunteer: Parents have to be volunteered trained each year and fingerprinted at the district office every five years

* Room Parent: Assists the teacher with various things for the classroom

* Strategic Planning Team: School stakeholders (parents, teachers, administration) work together to improve the school
