Important Reminders
Student Dress Code
The dress code for NISD is linked above. Please take a look at the three items we would like to work on at Fields, as these have been major areas of concern the first few weeks of school.
1. Mid-thigh length skirts, skorts, and dresses may be worn at all levels. There should not be a cut or slit in the clothing that extends above the mid-thigh. We have seen A LOT of students wearing jeans with rips and holes above the mid thigh, please do not wear these to school.
2. Any clothes that are suggestive or indecent or which cause a distraction will be prohibited. Specifically, oversized clothing, tank tops, muscle shirts, halter/crop tops, spaghetti straps, exposed backs or midriffs, and see-through garments are prohibited. The major concern in this section are crop tops. Please do not send students in crop tops to school.
3. Hats and hoodies are not to be worn in the building unless we have a spirit day that allows it.
Morning Drop Off
No visitors will be allowed beyond the security lobby after 7:40 AM as our students will be getting settled in for the school day. We will have staff available in the foyer to walk students to class if needed. If you arrive after 7:45 AM, please park and walk your child into the security lobby to be signed in for the day as we do not have staff on duty outside once the instructional school day begins.
Change in Dismissal
Please remember that any transportation changes need to be relayed to the office/your child's teacher before 2:00pm. If the office or your child's teacher does not receive any information about a transportation change from the parent/guardian, your child will be sent home via their original mode of transportation. It is a best practice to send an email, Dojo, or handwritten note directly to your child's teacher on the morning of the dismissal change.
Early Outs
We will not be able to release any students for an early out after 2:30 PM as it will be too close to dismissal and this could disrupt the dismissal process for your child's class. Safety is our TOP priority!
Bus and Daycare Parking
There is NO PARENT PARKING in the back parking lot nor should parents be parking where the daycare buses park. These designated spots are for our buses and daycare buses.
Late Pick-Up
Our dismissal process should conclude by 3:15 PM daily. If you arrive around that time and you do not see any activity out front, students have already been checked in for late pick-up inside the building. An approved pick-up person would need to park and enter the security lobby. Please bring your car tag into the building with you or be prepared to show your ID.
STEM NIGHT - September 10th
STEM Night will be here soon! Please refer to the designated areas for parking. Can't wait to see you all there for lots of STEMTASTIC FUN!
Parent/School Communication Flowchart
If you have questions or concerns, please ensure you always speak to your child's classroom teacher prior to coming to administration or the counselors as often the teacher has the information to best help you. See the flowchart below as a guide.
GT Awareness - September 17th
At Northside ISD, we're committed to nurturing all forms of giftedness, from high achievers to creative thinkers and beyond. Our goal is to cultivate autonomous, self-confident learners ready for future challenges. Are you a parent interested to learn about NISD's gifted education? Join Ms. Castillo, Fields GT Specialist, on Sept. 17th at 5:30 (Room A122) for a brief information session describing the program and explaining the process for identification. Can't attend the session? Visit the district Gifted Education website for more information. https://www.nisd.net/district/advanced-academics/gifted-talented
School Advisory Team Interest Form - September 19th 3:30 - 4:30 in Library
We would like to extend an invitation to you to become a member of our School Advisory Team (SAT). This committee serves as an advisory board to the principal, Mrs. Perez. Once on this committee, your input received on projects, planning, events and/or initiative is vital. Anyone interested in being a part of this team can email Mrs. Perez at ileana.perez@nisd.net. As part of this team, you will commit to 4 meetings per year.
Attendance Matters at Fields Elementary
Technology Updates
As we begin this new school year, we want to address an important matter regarding the care of school-issued devices. These tools are essential for our students' learning, and it is crucial that they are treated with respect and responsibility. As part of the Northside ISD device lending agreement signed when technology was issued to our students, our families were notified that in the case of lost or damaged technology they would be financially responsible for the following:
* The repair cost due to intentional damage or damage due to neglect/accident
* Replacement costs due to device loss for any reason (ie. theft, fire, flood, lightning, or any other cause)
* In the event the device is damaged, destroyed or rendered useless while assigned to the student.
Starting this school year, any device that is found to have been broken will incur a $40 charge to cover the cost of repair or replacement. If this problem persists and a student is responsible for damaging multiple devices, no further school devices will be issued to them. In such cases, parents will be responsible for providing the necessary supplies for their student to be successful in the classroom. Last school year at Fields we had 117 repairs and approximately 10 devices rendered useless.
If you have any questions, please contact the FIELDS Administration for more information. If you’d like to opt-out from your child receiving another device in the future and would like to supply your own technology to them, you may do so using this link to the district opt-out form. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain our devices for all students. Let’s work together to ensure a successful and productive school year.
