A Note from Dr. Martin
Hello LISD Families,
As you know, Monday is Veterans Day and, in honor of our veterans, we do not have school that day. Communities celebrate Veterans Day in various ways, all intended to recognize living veterans for their service and contribution to our national security. The annual LISD Veteran's Day assembly was today, and our ASB officers and representatives planned an inspiring 1st-12th program with music, roses, introductions, and a speaker. We were all reminded of the importance of thanking veterans who have served in all branches of the military. If you are a veteran, thank you very much for your service. If you have a family member or friend who served, we hope you have an opportunity to honor them on Monday.
All public schools in the state of Washington provide educational activities the week before the Veterans Day holiday as a civic observance. On the heels of election day, when many Americans are feeling the stress and uncertainty of a divided nation, I was happy to gather our staff and students to celebrate veterans, an act of patriotism that we could all appreciate.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
All my best,
Martha
