The Weekly Update 14
November 27th
Happy Thanksgiving!
Dear Families,
I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to both the PTO and the generous members of our Summit community. Thanks to your kindness and generosity, we were able to assemble 50 Thanksgiving baskets, each including two delicious rotisserie chickens, to share with the families we sponsor.
Your support means so much to those in need, and it is through your contributions that we are able to make a tangible difference in the lives of others during this special time of year. Thank you for your unwavering generosity and compassion.
I hope that over the next few days, you'll find time to recharge and enjoy the company of those who matter most as we welcome the holiday season. Embrace your cherished traditions and create new ones to make this time of year even more special.
Cheers,
John Ciferni
Principal
Holiday Toy Drive
As we reflect on the success of our Thanksgiving Food Drive, we are excited to announce that we will be collecting toys for children in need this holiday season. Our goal is to bring joy to children of all ages, and we are partnering with two wonderful local organizations to make this possible: The Grace Organization in Summit, NJ, and "Be The Change" at Kean University.
From Monday, December 2nd to Friday, December 13th, your child is invited to bring an unwrapped toy to their team leader. Every donation, big or small, will help brighten a child’s holiday and make them feel cared for and remembered.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are so grateful for your kindness and generosity as we work together to make this holiday season a little brighter for those in need.
Anxious Generation School Sponsored Parent Book Group
For those of you who have attended my parent coffees, I’ve discussed the idea of starting a parent book study on The Anxious Generation. Many of our staff members are currently reading the book, and it’s especially relevant for anyone who has children or works in education. We encourage everyone to read along and join us for a book discussion later this school year, on April 23rd at 7:00 pm. More details will be shared soon.
Picture Day
Make-up day is approaching on Thursday, December 12th and we encourage anyone who was absent or retaking their image to please see our photographer on this day. Here's the email blast with the pre-pay code. *If your student plans to retake their picture (with or without an order), you MUST email Mrs. Frasca at pfrasca@summit.k12.nj.us by Friday, December 6th for her to put your child(ren) on the retake list.
Absentees?
Once provided, please use the pre-pay code in the email blast to place your order. THIS CODE IS ONLY FOR ABSENTEES. This allows you take advantage of the same packages we provided during original day.
Retaking an Image without an order?
At this time you are only able to view your original day image online. Once your image has been replaced with your re-take you may go online and place an order using your personal web code we provided to you on your Last Chance form.
Retaking an image and already placed an order?
Students MUST bring in original package and provide it to our photographer. We kindly ask parents to write any concerns on the FRONT of the envelope. Your order will be replaced using your new image.

Playbooks have up to twelve sections including:
💬 Rundown - A high-level description of what the platform is all about, who uses it, and why
📲 Students are using this app positively by - How we can use the platform for good
⁉️ Students are tripping up on this app by - Ways others have hurt their health, happiness, or future success
⚠️ Features to be aware of - Flagship features to consider using or avoiding
🎞 Platform in action - A video about how to use the platform
