Welcome Back!
August 23, 2024
Hello Brown School Families,
We are back... and we are crushing it! The first two weeks are in the books and the fun has just begun! While we are busy working on our routines and procedures in the classrooms and throughout the school, I am quite sure you are all working on your own family morning and afternoon procedures and routines. It always takes a little time to work through the kinks, and we are happy to report things are going smoother every day. Thank you for all you are doing to get the kids to school on time every day. We thank you all for your patience with us and with one another with regard to traffic, bus schedules and procedures.
We are looking forward to meeting you all at Open House next week. Please read on for more information!
Open House is Next Week!
Thursday, September 26th 5:30-7:00
We hope you will all be able to make it to our Open House next week. Our teachers will do their best to help create an understanding around grade level and classroom expectations, and how you can support your child's learning. This is a great opportunity to get to know your child's teacher and ask questions about the school year. The Brown School Open House is broken into two sessions. Kindergarten and Grade 1 Open House takes place from 5:30-6:15 and then Grades 2 and 3 follows from 6:15-7:00.
5:30-6:15-PK, K, and Grade 1

From the Health Office
Welcome back to communal living and working for kids 🙂! It is common for the start of school to have a number of reported colds and minor illnesses. And, it's always a good time remind everyone about good health practices including staying hydrated and energized, along with regular hand washing. We will keep you informed of any concerning health issues or increases illness occurring at the Brown School.
This week's health reminders:
Remember how many snacks your kids asked for throughout the day over the summer?
**Please remember to send your student into school with a water bottle and snack every day.
Pertussis (Whooping Cough)-As reported last week we had a case of Pertussis at the Brown School. Please be sure to review THIS INFO to keep you informed.
Covid Guidelines- The current guidelines for students or staff who test positive for Covid-19 are to stay home until fever-free for 24 hours. A mask is recommended for 5 days after testing positive.
Please feel free to reach out to Karen Doherty, RN if you have any school health related questions or concerns.
Marblehead Organizations Working Together!
Kids Give Back in a very cool way!
Last year the Marblehead Recreation and Parks Department sponsored an after school program called Kids give Back. It was facilitated by two of our wonderful staff members, School Counselor Kara Elmer, and First Grade Teacher Rachel Leavitt. In addition to performing many acts of kindness and support for our school and community, some of the children worked together to write a grant for a Book Vending Machine! The Friends of Marblehead Public Schools invite people to submit a grant for services and resources to enhance our schools. The kids' grant was approved and this week we had a ribbon cutting ceremony for INCHY THE BOOK VENDING MACHINE! The Brown School PTO and another local literacy foundation has agreed to help us keep our machine well stocked!
This is an incredible celebration of kids' efforts, Marblehead Recreation and Parks, Friends of Marblehead Public School, Brown School PTO, and Brown School staff all coming together for goodness sake. Thank you to all who had a hand in bringing our new book vending machine to the Brown School.... but mostly, thank you all for being such great models for our kids and community to show what can happen when we all work together!
