Happy Friday, Lakewood Families!
This week, all HVS students participated in School Safety Week in grades JK-5th grades. Our students participated in activities and lessons designed to enhance their awareness and preparedness. Students spent time with their teachers reviewing the importance of drills such as Shelter in Place; Run, Hide, Fight; Severe Weather and Fire Drills. This allows our students to review important procedures and protocols, if a true emergency were to take place in the building.
During Safety Week, we also had students practice one of our safety drills. On Tuesday, all students participated in a Shelter in Place drill.
On Wednesday, our entire staff engaged in a training session with the White Lake Police Department after school to help us learn about policies, procedures, roles, and responsibilities in emergency situations. We also participated in simulations of emergency exercises such as Run, Hide, Fight.
You can find more information about HVS safety protocols here:

🎵 Recorder Karate 🎶
In 5th grade music class, our students have been working hard on their Recorder Karate journey—a self-paced program where they can earn up to nine belts as they progress in their skills. I’m thrilled to announce that this week, two dedicated 5th graders have achieved the ultimate milestone: their black belts!
A huge congratulations to Hamza Abbasi and William Lloyd (not pictured) for completing all nine belts. Their commitment, practice at home, and hard work have truly paid off. We're so proud of their achievement!
Keep up the amazing work, everyone!
Wet Weather is Coming
With the winter season approaching, please consider sending in a change of clothes for your student in a Ziploc bag to keep in their locker.
The office is in need of pants, long sleeve shirts and plastic grocery bags to send wet/stained items home with the student(s). Thank you in advance for considering donating gently worn children's clothing.
