WELCOME BACK!
Cobra Family,
We are excited to welcome all our students to what promises to be an incredible school year. Our Cobra family has been hard at work preparing to provide the best possible experiences for our students.
This year, our theme is "ALL IN", as educators, parents, and community members, we are all deeply invested in our students' educational journey. Together, we will ensure that this year is a successful and enriching one for every student.
First day of school is Monday, August 19, 2024. Thank you in advance for entrusting us with your child's education. We look forward to a fantastic school year ahead!
Summer FUN
We had a successful summer with our Class of 2028! In June, we welcomed them with Cobra Camp, where they had the opportunity to make new friends and engage in team-building activities. In early August, they returned for our weeklong Summer Bridge, where they learned about our school's core values, explored high school resources, and reviewed TSI material. We are excited to welcome our freshman class!
New Staff Memebers
We are excited to share that our school community is growing! We have welcomed the following new members, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Please read their short biographies below and be sure to extend a warm welcome when you see them.
What's New?
Student ID's
As part of our ongoing commitment to campus safety, we want to inform everyone that starting this school year, all high school students will be required to wear their student IDs on lanyards around their necks while on campus. Students received their ID and lanyard during registration. We appreciate your continued support.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Our morning drop-off and after-school pick-up procedures will remain the same. Please follow the map below to access our designated drop-off areas. As a reminder, gates will close promptly at 8:00 AM, and guards will begin using the Raptor system to check in visitors after the first week of school. Morning traffic can be a bit congested, so we recommend planning accordingly. Thank you for your cooperation.
The Red Arrow Route: Vehicles entering the SHS campus from Shary Road at the Castleman Gym entrance will continue heading north past SA3 and exit through the AEP Center exit at Taylor Road. Please note, traffic will not be allowed to exit east towards Taylor at the corner of SA3.
The Blue Arrow Route: Vehicles entering from Taylor Road may use the U-shaped drop-off access directly behind SA3 or continue to the main building and turn north at the 4-way stop sign. Note that traffic dropping off in the U-shaped drive is not allowed to turn west towards the SHS campus and must exit through the Taylor Road exit.
Note: The area marked with a yellow "X" will be closed to all eastbound traffic during drop-off times.
Access to SA3 & Day Time Parking
Continuing with our commitment to student safety, we will be closing off the parking space in front of SA3 and designating that area as a student crosswalk. This change ensures that no vehicles are driving by while students are transitioning to and from buildings. The areas marked with a black "X" indicate sections that will be closed off, with no car travel allowed. Moving forward, all SA3 visitors will need to use the Castleman Guard entrance to park on the southwest side of our school. These parking spaces will be reserved for campus visitors. Please see the maps below and reach out to our campus if you have any questions or concerns.
Campus Doors will open at 7:45 AM
Starting this school year, our campus doors will open at 7:45 AM to ensure students are supervised at all times. Students can head to the cafeteria for breakfast or wait in the pavilion areas by the 400, East Cafeteria, or behind SA3. If a student has scheduled tutoring, they will need a pass, or their teacher will meet them at the entrance.
FREE MEALS
For the first time in Sharyland ISD history, our Child Nutrition Program will be offering the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) district-wide this school year, providing free, nutritious meals to all students across the district. This initiative will help ease the burden on our families, ensuring that every student is nourished and ready to excel academically.
Parents will no longer need to complete the Child Nutrition Application, but we will still be sending home an Income Survey. I encourage you to take the time to complete it and either email it or send it with your child. By completing this survey, your child may qualify for additional benefits if eligible.

Reminders
Cell Phone Policy
To maximize instructional time and minimize distractions, our teachers will continue to require students to turn in their cell phones at the beginning of class, placing them in the designated cell phone parking lot. Students often become distracted by incoming messages and notifications, which can interfere with their learning. Additionally, AirPods and headphones are not allowed during instructional time. Please review our cell phone and electronics policy to help ensure a successful and productive year for our students. Thank you for your support in this matter.
Dress Code Policy
Our dress code reflects our commitment to maintaining a respectful and focused learning environment. By adhering to the dress code, students contribute to a sense of unity and professionalism within the school. We thank you for your support and cooperation in this matter. Please review our Dress Code Policy.
