Message from the Principal
As we settle into the start of the new school year, I want to emphasize a key priority for this year: advancing the stewardship of our mission statement. At Souhegan, we are committed to fostering a community of learners rooted in respect, trust, and courage, engaging all members—students, staff, families, and community partners—in meaningful governance.
One essential way we can live up to this mission is through the practice of civil discourse. Civil discourse—the ability to engage in respectful, thoughtful conversations even when we disagree—aligns with the values that Souhegan upholds. By teaching and modeling civil discourse, we strengthen our ability to navigate diverse perspectives, build empathy, and collaborate to solve problems. All of these skills are crucial in our classrooms, our school community, and society as a whole.
Next week, our Community Council’s grade-level representatives will lead Class Forums. Forums are a vital part of our effort to foster collaborative conversations and civil discourse, aligning with Souhegan’s values of respect, trust, and courage.
These forums aim to:
- Encourage active student participation
- Empower students to share their opinions and concerns
- Serve as a feedback mechanism for school proposals
- Foster community through collaboration
- Develop students’ analytical and problem-solving skills
- Build trust by involving students in decision-making
These opportunities for civil discourse will strengthen our community and ensure every voice is valued. I encourage everyone to engage in these important conversations, speak with courage, listen respectfully, and contribute to our collective success.
Together, through open and respectful communication and collaboration we can continue to cultivate a thriving, inclusive community of learners.
Best,
Dana

The Grandest Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Seven tickets. An island of dreams. The chance of a lifetime. Welcome to the Grandest Game, an annual competition run by billionaire Avery Grambs and the four infamous Hawthorne brothers, whose family fortune she inherited. Designed to give anyone a shot at fame and fortune, this year's game requires one of seven golden tickets to enter. With millions on the line, those seven players will do whatever it takes to win. Some of the players are in it for the money. Some for power. Some for reasons all their own. Every single one of them has secrets. Amidst it all is Grayson Hawthorne, tasked with a vital role in this year's game. But as tensions rise and the mind-bending challenges push the players to their limits--physically, mentally, and emotionally--it soon becomes clear that not everyone is playing by the rules.

Robotics Team - Entropy 138
🚨 Looking for Mentors!
Mentors are the life blood of the SHS Robotics Team. Our team of mentors is driven by an all volunteer core of professionals. Without adequate Mentor support, the burden unfairly falls on too few, and disappoints student expectations. Team 138 Entropy is in need of engineering mentors. We are looking for engineering professionals to graciously volunteer their time as student mentors to share their expertise and experiences in designing a robot to compete in FIRST Robotics Competitions. In particular, but not limited to, the team is in desperate need of mechanical engineers with design and rapid prototyping experience. Come help make a difference in young people's future and be part of the fun! Interested individuals, please contact Joe Caraccio (jacaraccio@gmail.com or (603) 620-1488) or Steve Wall (steven.r.wall@gmail.com or (603) 440-9942) for more information.
PTSA
The Souhegan Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) supports Souhegan students. Think of the PTSA like a booster club for all things high school, not a specific sport or club. The PTSA collaborates with school administration and staff to provide input on various matters affecting students and families, along with funding.

Turf Sports Games - Volunteers Needed
The turf field allows for lots of games to be played on Calvetti Field with the concession stand nearby. PTSA will run the concession stand at various games, as long as volunteer power comes through. Funds raised go toward Project Graduation and PTSA scholarships and events.
