D-A MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLER OF THE WEEK: WYATT BLACK!
This week’s spotlight on Wyatt Black, aka "Wild Earp". In just his first season, Wyatt is already making a name for himself as a force to be reckoned with on the mat. Despite being new to the competitive wrestling scene, he has quickly shown the qualities of a seasoned veteran.
What stands out most is Wyatt's unwavering drive to get better. Every practice, he comes in with a focus and intensity that pushes both himself and those around him to elevate their game. His commitment to mastering technique and refining his skills is evident in every move he makes.
Keep up the good work Earp!
YOUTH TECHNOLOGY USE & ONLINE SAFETY PRESENTATION
Our middle schoolers will be listening to Dr. Justin Patchin next Thursday: 6th & 7th graders will hear his informative presentation from 1:15-2:00; 8th graders from 3:00-3:30. A parent night that evening at Caddie Woodlawn is open to everyone.
BADLANDS SNOW-TUBING - 8th Grade Quarter Trip
Badlands Snow-Tubing, located in Hudson, WI, is going on their 53nd season! Spread out over 25 acres with 7 completely separate hills including several of the steepest, tallest, and longest in the country, it is a great place to spend a winter day! The D-A 8th Graders will spend all day January 23rd at Badlands enjoying the scenic area and some thrilling rides all while making great memories!
Reminders:
- Bring gloves, hats, coats, snow pants, water bottles and sunscreen
- Bring a lunch or let your Panther Time Teacher know if you need one ordered
- Badlands accepts both cash and card
This month's Target Time focus is COMMITMENT & COURAGE. Mrs. Sabelko shares more information in this week's letter, and you can follow TILL360 on YouTube.
Winter is here and just in time for our middle school ski trip on Wednesday! What a great day of exercise, connecting with others, and skiing. We are very thankful that Afton Alps is willing to take our whole middle school together and host such a large group that we bring. This is a compliment to our staff, students, and families for their safe and respectful behavior that they show when we are there to continually be invited back for the following year.
This week I would like to celebrate:
Students skiing for the first time. It always takes courage to try something for the first time.
All of the students ending semester one who accomplished their academic and behavioral goals.
Mrs. Hayden and Mrs. Anderson for all of their work making sure our paperwork is completed correctly, students are getting the notes they need to get, and mailing the important paperwork to families like report cards.
As we move into semester two we are going to make a change in the way the students have their exploratory classes instead of rotating A, B, C. The students will remain in one class for six weeks, each day and then rotate. Students in the Honors Choir and Jazz Band will still have this opportunity and go on set days each week.
Below is helpful information to know about this revision:
Grading:
Grades will Pass/Fail as we have been doing, staff may use formative/summative assessments along the way to determine the "P" or "F."
Main Change:
Students will stay in a class for six-weeks and then rotate. This means there will be three groups of seventh grade classes that will rotate into Spanish instead of Target Time for six weeks and then rotate back out to Target Time.

Emma-Group B six weeks, Group C six weeks, Group A six weeks

Jazz Band & Honors Choir:
Honors Choir: Tuesday/Thursday/Every Other Friday
Jazz Band: Monday/Wednesday/Every Other Friday
*All students will be in Community & Citizenship. Classes have been more equally distributed and each section will be a bit less than on your roster when the students leave for these opportunities.
Rotation Dates:
January 22-March 4
March 5-April 15
April 16-May 28
A reminder that students are only allowed to stay after school under direct supervision or in the Durand Public Library. They are NOT allowed to just stay after school without being here for a co-curricular, tee-time, working with a staff member, or individual permission from a staff member. If they are found here parents/guardians will be called and asked to come and pick-up the students right away. The Durand Public Library is a great option if students need to wait for a ride.
Important Upcoming Events:
