What's happening at the winery......
Here's the latest
Trent is back in Poway. Tristian has gone on vacation so Trent is here to run the bar. It's always nice to have him around to take care of our wine production and other things. Speaking of vacations, John and Charlene, and Greg Payne, just left for Portugal and Spain. Then they're going to venture over to Bordeaux, France. I'M SO JEALOUS! Bordeaux is high on my bucket list and I'm sure that I'll visit there someday. I hope you do too. Greg is only staying a couple weeks while John and Charlene are going to be gone over a month. I'm sure they'll all have some great stories when they return.
Bordeaux is the shinning star of French wine. They produce about 25% of France's wine and it's some of the best around. Did you know that most of the wines coming from Bordeaux are blends? It's true. They grow primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which are the base wines. They also grow Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Malbec and Syrah to use as blending grapes. They name the wines after the area where they were produced. They do that to emphasize the importance of French wine, so a Bordeaux is a blend, a Burgundy is a Pinot Noir and Champagne is usually a Chardonnay. It's confusing but they make such good wine that it's worth the challenge.
Meanwhile, at Mission Cellars, we're still making our famous Slushies. They're so popular during the warm weather that we're stockpiling plenty of Sangria to make it. We'll be ready for you. Thanks for stopping by. Our patio is also ready for action.
Have you tried our Cabernet yet?
Our new Cabernet Sauvignon is phenomenal and you really must give it a try. The grapes came from Alexander Valley in the Sonoma area. Trent did a great job of highlighting all those wonderful flavors that Cabernet exhibits. It's big and chewy and has a great balance of tannins - truly a winner. Stop by and ask for a taste. You'll be glad you did.
Musical Update
