Counselor's Corner
May is a month of celebrations. Each one of our students has something to celebrate, either academic or personal. Take a moment to reflect on this school year and celebrate your child's accomplishments as well as yours. Your child has grown physically, cognitively, and emotionally. Value his/her effort, progress, and commitment. Make sure that your focus is on his/her growth journey and not on the result. Put it into practice and enjoy the end of the year celebrations of your child, yours, and your family.
Please feel free to reach out me at psalcedo1@kleinisd.net or by phone (832)484-5933.
If you are interested in being a presenter for our campus career day event, please complete the form linked HERE. The event will take place on Friday, May 17th.

Arrival time for students is between 7:40 and 8:10 daily! For safety purposes, please do not drop students off earlier than this time unless involved in early morning activities. Also please be sure students arrive before the tardy bell rings so they do not miss out on important beginning-of-the-day instruction. Cafeteria doors close at 8:00am. If you would like for your child to have breakfast at school, please send them to school before 8:00am.

Standards Based Grading Updates
Klein ISD has made changes to the Standards Based Grading guidelines for this school year. Previously, progress was graded with a 1/2/3 score based on quarterly expectations. This year, students will be graded on a 1/2/3/4 scale and based on end of the year expectations. Families will see more 1s and 2s than were seen previously as the district has shifted towards assessing with end of the year expectations in mind.
More information on the district's Standards Based Grading policies can be found here: https://www.kleinisd.net/teaching-learning/curriculum-design-delivery/standards-based-grading

Birthday Treats
Birthday treats are encouraged to be purchased from our school cafeteria. No outside food and/or treats are allowed for birthday student and/or classmates.
When it comes to birthday treats for students, our cafeteria managers need at least 2 weeks’ notice to ensure they have enough time to order the treats that you want for your student. This also gives time to the nurses to check the allergies of all the students in the class. If you have more questions about the process, please reach out to the campus kitchen for more information. For more information, please visit our Nutrition and Food services by clicking here.
We also have more options for Birthday surprises. Please see our flyer below and be sure to fill out the form with your information AND pay using this LINK.
SMART Tags
SMART Tag Parent Portal - Through the app, parents will be able to: View Child’s profile, routes, and riding history. Add/remove children to and from the account. Sign up for SMART alerts (text notifications when the bus is 10-15 minutes from the stop and receive status updates). Manage authorized guardians.
How it Works: Parents register online at https://parent.smart-tag.net, add their children using the student ID, date of birth, and campus name. Parents can sign up for SMART alerts which is optional
Parent Portal became available now.
This SMART Tag Parent Portal will only work for those students who have not lost or damaged their SMART Tags. If this has occurred, parents must purchase a new SMART Tag for $5.00 on School Cash Online.
