Hillcrest E-TECH Newsletter
October 2024
From the Desk of Ms. Ulloa
We want to wish a very warm welcome to our two new E-TECH counselors, Dr. Jeffery Horn and Ms. Chiquita Prudhomme! We are very excited to have them meet and work with our students!
We are off to a good start in the E-TECH program! College classes are well off and are running smoothly. We currently offer 11 Dual Credit college courses on campus to our 9th and 10th graders. We currently have 95 - 11th graders and 88 -12th graders who attend the Richland campus for their courses. In addition, many of our students are actively participating in extra-curricular activities. If your child is not engaged in an activity, we strongly encourage them to find something that intrigues them, as we know that being involved contributes to student growth and success!
Last week was the end of Quarter 1, our Cycle 1. Please ensure that you check PowerSchool to see your student’s progress. Your child should be able to log into the college platform called BrightSpace and show you their progress in their college classes. E-TECH staff conduct a weekly grade check for all dual credit courses to follow up with student progress. Help your child monitor their own progress by logging in to both Brightspace and Powerschool. We should be aiming for A-B Honor Roll. Let’s get it!
A Note from Ms. Prudhomme:
I'm so happy to be the new E-TECH counselor for the 11th and 12th grade at Hillcrest High School. I have a wealth of experience on the high school and college level side. I was previously over the Collegiate Fine Arts program at Wilmer Hutchins High School and have taught at Dallas College. I'm looking forward to working with you all!
A Note from Dr. Horn:
My name is Dr. Jeff Horn, and I am this year’s new 9th and 10th Grade E-TECH Counselor. I have taught Business and Spanish in the past. Additionally, I have served as a counselor, mostly in high schools. Furthermore, I have worked as an Assistant Principal for all levels and as a Central Office Coordinator of Counseling Services.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Sciences from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX; Baccalaureate in Secondary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University, in Nacogdoches, TX; Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Development from Lamar University, in Beaumont, TX; and my Doctor of Education degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University in Commerce, TX.
If you ever have issues with your classes or credits, please request to see me. Also, if you just need someone to talk to, my office is in Room 203. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you this year.
