August will be a busy and exciting month at Quarles! We will spend time building our classroom family as we get to know one another. We will also learn about the rules and expectations at school.

• Listen when spoken to
• Follow classroom rules
• Ask questions when you need help
• Identify the front and back covers of a book
• Understand and follow print from left to right
• Listen and respond to questions before, during and after stories
• Answer questions beginning with: who, what, when, where, why, how
• Develop vocabulary
• Compare and describe pictures from stories
• Identify story structures like characters and setting
• Hold a pencil correctly
• Identify uppercase and lowercase letters
• Produce and isolate letter sounds

• Count out loud from 0 to 30
• Read, write and identify numbers to 30
• Describe units of time on a calendar: days, weeks, months and years
• Understand and interpret graphs and picture graphs
• Identify, describe, extend and create simple repeating patterns

• Doors open at 7:20 each day and begins promptly at 7:50. Dismissal is at 2:30.
• Please send your child's folder to school every day; check their folder every evening- this is a primary communication source.
• Please send your child to school with a spill-proof water bottle every day.
• Please read to your child for 20 minutes every day.
