Dear Blackhawk Families,

We had our monthly Blackhawk Bonanza last week. Students of all grade levels enjoyed participating in a bubblegum blowing contest. Our 7th grade won with a bubble of 7 centimeters! Afterwards, students competed in a schoolwide game of Bingo. Ms. Brunk called out Bingo numbers throughout the day and students were able to come to the office for a prize. We are well underway with our Kindness Campaign fundraiser! So far, we have 76 students registered on the website. Please take a moment to help our school by registering your student and inviting family and friends to donate! We will be using the money to purchase window wraps for added security to our campus, as well as new robotics kits for STEM. Every penny helps! Here is the site to register. This fundraiser runs until 9/30... so, hurry while you still can! The class that raises the most money will get to turn Ms. Brunk into a human sundae at our October Blackhawk Bonanza! The class that has the most acts of kindness pledged will win a pizza party and game afternoon!

DVUSD has a bond and override on the ballots for the upcoming election. These measures provide funding for facilities maintenance, athletics and arts, safety upgrades, staff salaries, full-day kindergarten, and much more. Please see the factual information included below for more details.

Kindergarteners were engaged in coding by using Sphero Indi cars! STEM skills start in kindergarten!

Desert Mountain Middle School art students collaborated to make a drip mural that is featured in our cafeteria. Their inspiration came from L.A. based artist Jen Stark who makes colorful art that is featured around the world. Great job to our 7/8th grade artists!

Our amazing DMS PTO will be hosting our school Boo Bash on October 25th. Please save the date to plan on joining us for an evening full of fun, games, and friends! More details to come!

Sixth graders practiced ratios in groups. They enjoyed hands-on learning with their peers!
