East End Elementary News
May 13, 2024
Dear East End Families,
This newsletter includes some repeats of important information for our final days this school year. Counting today, there are 10 more days remaining!
Our Student Council is collecting supplies for the Dream Center's Opportunity Village. Your help in donations would be greatly appreciated! Please send your donations by Friday, May 17th. In advance, thank you for your support!
This is very busy week at East End with our SC Ready testing beginning for grades 3, 4, and 5. Additional details are included in this newsletter. It is very important for our students to have a full night's sleep, healthy breakfast, arrive to school on time and have a "can do" attitude. We are supplying peppermint puffs for our students to have during the testing. We encourage every family to send a full water bottle for the students to have during testing, as well.
State testing begins for our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders continues on Tuesday, May 14th.
Tuesday, May 14th – Math for Grades 3, 4, and 5
Thursday, May 16th – Science for Grade 4
Make-up testing will take place each of the non-tested days on May 15, 16 (grades 3, and 5), 18, and continuing May 20 - May 24, if needed.
Refer to our testing information included in this newsletter for additional details.

We will accept requests to participate between May 13 – May 20th. Please be sure to send your full legal name and birthdate in order for a badge to be printed. Requests without full legal name and birthdates will result in a clearance and badge not taking place.
Fifth grade will celebrate with the 5th Grade Graduation and Awards Day on May 23rd at 8:30 a.m. in the cafeteria. Requests for visitor badges to participate in this program will also be accepted between May 13 – May 20th. We had hoped to work another way for badges for 5th grade, but will need all who plan to attend the 5th Grade Graduation to requests your badges no later than Monday, May 20th. . Due to the volume of visitors coming on the 22nd and 23rd, we cannot sign anyone in on these dates. Visitor badges must be requested in advance between May 13th – 20th. Thanks for your cooperation with this!

April 28, 2024
Parents and Guardians of Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade Students,
I am writing to share information about our upcoming state mandated testing and to perhaps answer some questions you may have concerning the testing. SC Ready and SC PASS testing for grades 3, 4, and 5 will begin on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at East End Elementary. Our students will participate in ELA (English Language Arts) testing on Tuesday, 5/7 and Wednesday, 5/8 and math testing on Tuesday, 5/14. The SC PASS Science test is on Thursday, May 16th for grade four students only.
I plan to meet with 3rd, 4th and 5th graders to talk about the importance of doing their best on the test, eating a healthy breakfast and being well-hydrated before testing, getting plenty of sleep each night before, arriving to school on time, and having a “can do attitude” during the testing. In advance, thank you for your support of your child in encouraging him/her each morning before testing. We plan to begin the testing promptly each morning right after arrival. Our teachers have worked to have our students well prepared. Your help this year is also greatly appreciated. We ask that you pay close attention to the testing schedule listed below.
Pre-arranged absence request during testing will not be approved. Early dismissals during testing will also not be an option. The tests are untimed. Per SC Testing Guidelines, students may not be in possession of any electronic devices that can be used for communicating, timing, creating images, or storing images. These devices will be collected by the teacher and returned after each test session is completed. A brochure with information about testing will also be shared with you.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call Del Freitag, testing coordinator and guidance counselor, at 397-1704. Donna Harden, interim assistant principal can be reached at 397-1711 or I can be reached at 397-1710. We will all be glad to assist.
Sincerely,
Tammy Day, principal

2024-2025 School Year Teacher Placements
Some have contacted the office or current administration about teacher requests for the 2024-2025 school year. Mr. Chris Brewington, East End Principal beginning July 1, 2024, has indicated that teacher requests will not be used in making rolls for the upcoming school year. There is no need to send in a teacher request as these will not be used in making rosters for the new school year.
