Let's Go Cards!
This past week Cross Country raced at the Champoeg Invitational. The hard work, dedication and perseverance of Cardinal athletes paid off posting 15 Personal or Season Records including Natalie, Logan A., Thatcher, Flynn, Matthew, Logan M., Gavin, Jack, Zevi, Enrique, Asher, Elaia, Claire, Oren and Ezryn. Three of our current runners rank in the top 10 recorded runners for Corbett. Vivi ranks 6th fastest for women while Logan M. (8th) and Zevi (9th) both moved into the top 10 list for men. Next Up: Sat 10/19 @ 2nd Annual Babson Invitational (Sam Barlow HS).
Women’s Soccer started the week at Valley Catholic and then lit up Red Wings Field on Thursday night scoring three goals to get the win against Portland Christian. It was great to see the celebratory energy on the field and in the stands. Way to stay with it Cards! Next Up: Thurs, 10/17 at home vs. Trout Lake/Glenwood, 4pm come celebrate Senior Night!
Success at this year’s Men’s Soccer Pink Night on October 8th! Each year, the team raises awareness and funds for breast cancer organizations. We raised $400 for Breast Friends through t-shirt and cranberry sales and a health and wellness basket raffle. A special thanks to the volunteers who organized the raffle and to raffle tickets buyers who helped us raise funds for this important organization. The game ended in defeat to Valley Catholic 6-2 with goals from Jayson Minsker and Quinn Fletcher. The Gresham Outlook covered the game in this article. Two days later, Varsity took on De La Salle North Catholic and came up with the win, 2-0! Rowan Wilburn and Johnny Gonzales scored for the Cards. Next Up: Corbett travels to Portland Adventist Academy on 10/15 at 6 pm and Columbia Adventist Academy in Battle Ground on 10/18 at 2:30 pm.
Football battled Gaston at home on Friday night in the fall breeze of Corbett. Even though the team didn’t get the win, they came up with big plays throughout the night. The Cards forced a turnover in the red zone to set up a rushing touchdown. Later in the game, the defense recovered a fumble and turned it into coast to coast touchdown run. Next Up: On the road Friday 10/18 @ Vernonia/Jewell, 7pm.
Cards Volleyball continues to roll through their league season with 3 -0 wins against Banks and Warrenton. Over the weekend, the team traveled back to the coast for the Seaside Invitational where they brought home wins against 4A opponents Scappoose & Estacada, as well as Catlin Gabel.
