Dimond NewsBlast
May 07, 2024
Dear Dimond Families!
Congratulations to the Class of 2024! This week is the last week for seniors. We are looking forward to graduating our seniors next week on Wednesday, May 15th at 7:00 PM at the Alaska Airlines Center at UAA. Please note that we will have a full day of school on May 15th.
Also, there is a little over two weeks remaining in the school year. Please continue to follow up on how your student is doing emotionally and academically. Some students might be experiencing anxiety about the school year ending and the overall transition of moving to the next grade level. As we move toward the end of another school year, we are maintaining academics by prepping for finals and/or completing projects. The goal is to ensure that students keep working and FINISH STRONG! Please help us by encouraging your student to stay the course.
No Early Finals
As a longstanding policy, Dimond High does not provide early finals. If for some reason, your student must miss their final exam, they should contact the Curriculum Office to schedule a make-up exam. If their final grade changes as a result, the teacher of record will enter a grade change request.

Locker Clean Out
Senior locker clean out will occur May 9th during 4th period. Grades 10-12 will occur May 20th during the last few minutes of school. Please help remind students to start bringing items home from their locker. They should only bring to school what is necessary for class, weather, and extracurricular activities.
No Bags During Finals
During finals (5/21-5/22), students will not be permitted to bring backpacks/large bags to school. Students may bring a small purse, fanny pack or lunch bag, however, ALL bags will be searched upon entry. Any large bags will be stored securely during the school day and students will be able to pick them up before going home. If you believe your student has an exceptional need to have a larger bag, please reach out to Whitney D’Atri (Student Services AP) ahead of time so we can avoid any confusion or frustration.
Mental Health Awareness Month
Please join us by wearing green on Thursday, May 9th as Dimond completes the “Be Seen in Green Challenge'' to support Mental Health Awareness Month. Please see the flier below for more information.
SENIOR INFORMATION!
For all Senior Related Information, you can view this web page. It has all of the important dates your senior needs to know for the rest of the year and is updated weekly with any new relevant information. It's a great resource.
Seniors' Last day is May 10th! Graduation tickets will be handed out to graduates on Friday, May 10th at the graduation walk though, for those not in attendance Friday, tickets will be held for pick-up (for the student or their parents) in the front office until 3:00 pm on Monday, May 13th. After May 10th, seniors are considered guests at school and must check-in as a visitor at the front desk. They must have a visitor’s pass to go speak with teachers and should not be on campus during the school day unless given express permission by an administrator.
Chromebooks
Seniors must return their school-issued Chromebook and charger before graduation. These items can be brought to the library or Mr. Regnart’s office next to the library.
Summer School 2024
Summer School registration info is now available, there are forms in the curriculum office, front office, and by each counselor's office. You can find more info on the ASD Summer Options page. Dimond will be an "in-person" site for credit recovery (students must've failed a course.) Counselors will prioritize graduation requirements when signing up students.
Please encourage students to see their counselor before school, at lunch, and after school regarding summer school. We'd like them to stay in their classes as much as possible this time of year.
Early Drop-Off Opportunities for New School Start Times
To support families, there will be some opportunities for early student drop-off, similar to what was done at the start of this year on PLC Mondays. Schools that are open for early drop-off will have staff on hand to supervise students inside in a warm, safe environment. https://www.asdk12.org/schoolstarttimes
Please see this link https://www.asdk12.org/schoolstarttimes for more information on start times. This information will run continuously for the remainder of the year.
Kindest Regards,
Principal Johnson-Harris
