Superintendent Community Update
September 27, 2024
Superintendent's Message
Dear JUHSD Community,
On some recent school visits, I’ve noticed that many students are choosing not to eat during brunch and lunch times. As a parent and your superintendent this is concerning to me. I want to encourage everyone to make the most of the delicious, nutritious meals we offer and eat brunch and lunch every day!
Our Food Service department works diligently to provide a variety of free brunch and lunch options that cater to the tastes of our students while ensuring they are nutritionally balanced. Please be sure to visit the cafeteria and grab some food. Brunch and lunch meals are designed to fuel you for a productive day of learning!
Here are just a few of the meal options available:
Brunch:
Yogurt Parfait
Egg and Cheese Wrap
Zucchini Bread
Lunch:
Chicken Drumsticks with Roasted Vegetables
Bean and Cheese Pupusa
Loaded Baked Potato
Eating a nutritious meal during the school day can significantly impact your mood and concentration. According to Tony Craddock, Jr., Public Affairs Specialist for the Food and Nutrition Service, students who eat breakfast are more alert and in a better mood, leading to a more positive learning experience. In fact, school breakfasts are typically more nutritious than those eaten elsewhere.
Again, I encourage each of you to take advantage of our free meals. They’re not only tasty but essential for keeping your energy levels high and your minds sharp. Let’s work together to make mealtime a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone. And, always remember that we love suggestions. If you like something, ask for more of it. If you have ideas, please share them. If something is not super popular, let us know!
Remember, we are here to serve you. I look forward to seeing more students eating lunch!🍇🍔🥑
Please remember that my door is always open. Have a great weekend!
Warm regards,
Toni Presta

Immigration Resource Night
Immigration Resource Night was a remarkable event, drawing over 250 families and community members! This gathering provided an invaluable opportunity for attendees to access essential information on legal aid, housing, and various community resources and services available to support families in need.
The event aimed to empower families with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate their challenges, ensuring they have access to the support they require. Participants were able to connect with San Mateo County organizations and professionals dedicated to helping our community thrive.
A heartfelt thank you to the JUHSD Wellness Team for their hard work and dedication in coordinating this impactful event alongside our partner district, JESD, Brisbane, and Bayshore. Your efforts have made a significant difference in the lives of many.
