This visit will provide students with an opportunity to become familiar with their future school, meet key staff members, and learn about the expectations and opportunities awaiting them next year.
During the visit, students will:
- Take a guided tour of the EIS campus
- Learn about daily routines, schedules, and important locations (cafeteria, library, gym, etc.)
- Meet some of the teachers and staff who will be supporting them in 5th grade
- Hear from current EIS students about their experiences and advice for a successful transition
This visit is a great opportunity to ease any worries and get them excited about this next step in their educational journey!
Wear Blue for Celiac Strong Day-May 16th
Kylie Connor, an 11th-grade student at Carroll Senior High School, is organizing a national event called Celiac Strong Day at Carroll Schools. This year, she is collaborating with nine schools in the district to make the event a success. Celiac Strong Day is celebrated annually on May 16th to raise awareness and support research for celiac disease. Kylie invites everyone in the Southlake community to show their support by wearing blue on May 16th.
Learn more about Celiac Disease
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the small intestines and is triggered by the consumption of gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. In individuals with celiac disease, the immune system mistakenly attacks the lining of the small intestine when gluten is ingested, quickly leading to damage or villi, nutrient absorbers. As a result, individuals with celiac disease may experience a range of symptoms such as abdominal pain, loss of focus, weight loss, and nutrient deficiencies. If left untreated, it will quickly turn into osteoporosis, Type 1 Diabetes, Lupus, Addison's disease, and Adenocarcinoma.
