Greenacres December Newsletter

Roadrunner Families,

I hope it has been a happy start to the holiday season to all of our Greenacres families. This is a special time of year as it can be full of fun, festivities, and hopefully those we love around us. One thing I am thankful for is the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful community. And, as I begin my Christmas movie watching spree, I became evermore reminded of my thankfulness, specifically so from Charlie Brown. In a Charlie Brown Christmas, there is a great line made by Charlie; "its not what is under the Christmas tree that matters its whose around it". I hope that you and your student are able to gather around those who are most important to you this holiday season and take that as a wonderful gift.

As we enter into the busyness, know that the week before break is our Spirit Week. Your child's teacher should be sending that information out shortly.

Giving Tree
Greenacres Elementary will be sponsoring the Giving Tree Program for identified families that need extra assistance for the upcoming holiday season. The Giving Tree will be located in the office beginning November 20th. For each student already identified, a tag will be placed on the tree with a number for staff and community members to pick. This tag will need to be brought back with the wrapped gift(s). All students and families remain anonymous. For Greenacres this is always a very special time of year, as the true meaning of giving is always astounding, as well as the strong sense of community that is present. Please stop by, pick up a tag and show your support! Gifts need to be turned in by December 11th. Please call or email with any questions, Christina Belknap (509)558-4213, cbelknap@cvsd.org.

Volunteers: In order to volunteer for field trips or school events, you must be an approved volunteer. Volunteer status is good for two years. Sign up here!

The temperature is starting to drop at a rapid rate. Please be sure that your student is prepared for winter weather with a coat, hat, boots, gloves, scarves, etc... We will be going out to recess, bus line, and valet even as it gets cold. Our cut off for indoor time is under the 20 degree mark. Thank you!

Care Closet: Greenacres Elementary has a “Care Closet”. The “Care Closet” houses many basic need items here at our school. If you are interested, please fill out the form to let us know which of these items your child needs.
