1A. SAT School Day

A. The SAT School Day will occur on April 29; this SAT administration will assess 75 registered juniors. Students will be notified of their testing locations via email, reporting directly to these locations on April 29th. If you are testing on this day, see the list of materials to bring here!

With any test-specific questions, please contact your counselor of record, or the SAT School Day coordinator, Ms. Londrigan (clondrigan@laceyschools.org).

1B. Advanced Placement Testing

AP (Advanced Placement) Testing will occur the weeks of May 5 & May 12. All students enrolled in AP courses will complete the AP test aligned to their course; predetermined AP exam dates may be found here. AP students will be excused from classes on the days during which they are completing an AP exam, and their attendance code will be listed as "In-school field trip."

Students at LTHS receive one "courtesy" AP test, and pay $60 for each remaining AP test. However, if they receive a passing score, they are reimbursed for the $60 test cost once scores are released.

We are thankful to Ms. Carly Londrigan for her continued diligence in the coordination of all-things CollegeBoard--including the SAT School Day and AP Testing.

1C. NJSLA Testing

NJSLA Testing is scheduled for the week of May 19.

In this New Jersey Department of Education-mandated test, freshmen will be tested in ELA, in addition to their Mathematics course (Algebra 1, Geometry, or Algebra 2). Also, juniors will be assessed in Science. Practice tests can be found here.

This will be a four-day testing model, similar to the NJGPA testing configuration that we administered in March.

2. Digital Safety and Mindfulness Seminar | May 14 at 6:00 PM

On May 14th, Lacey Township School District is hosting a seminar on internet safety. Titled "Digital Safety and Mindfulness," those attending will learn from Richard Guerry of IROC2. Mr. Guerry will review what it means to be "public and permanent" and having a "digital consciousness", along with the impact of cyber cruelty. In addition, he will share safe communication in gaming, empathy in decision-making, and positive opportunities to make change.

All community members, parents, and students aged 11 and older are welcomed to join! The event begins at 6:00 PM and is expected to end by 7:30 PM. No registration is required.

We express our gratitude for the Rotary of Forked River, who has generously sponsored this event.

4. Health & Wellness Activities Fair Review!

For the past three years, Lacey Township School District has hosted Mental Health & Wellness Nights each Spring. This year, the District partnered with various organizations throughout the township to create a robust, interactive evening event for peoples of all ages. The District coordinated with the Municipal Alliance, the Recreation Department, Police Department and the Lacey Township Education Association to sponsor and coordinate a fun and forward-thinking event. To the left, the promotional flyer can be viewed.

On April 3, a well-attended evening titled "Health & Wellness Activities Fair" was launched. This interactive event included various activities sessions, ranging from "Charcuterie 101" & "Cupcake Decorating", to art therapy and building a masterpiece day! Our students were also able to receive teen-focused activity sessions as well. The Surfrider Club and National Honor Society was especially present-- as was the incredible Lacey Township High School Jazz Band, who closed out the evening with a show-stopping performance, after student solo performances, demonstrating the broad-ranging strength of our Lacey Lions.

5. National Honor Society's Upcoming Blood Drive

Semianually, LTHS's National Honor Society hosts a blood drive. This blood drive aids in funding various scholarships for our graduating seniors each year. Within the past few weeks, our junior and senior members of the NHS coordinated a successful blood drive--and again, they will on May 28!

This event will occur in the Lacey Township High School Media Center between the following hours: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

6. Mental Health Spotlight: Three Good Things Exercise

Dr. Martin Seligman, founder of Positive Psychology, highly recommends a cognitive exercise called

"3 Good Things."

This simple tool helps to positively reframe an individual's outlook on life. A brief overview of 3 Good Things can be found here, and in the visual below.

This tool is recommended for students, parents and staff alike!

7. Mental Health Awareness (& Resource Guide!)

The month of May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

During next month, calendars fill rapidly.

Remember to prioritize self-care, healthful relationships,

practicing reflective exercises like "3 Good Things"--and especially as it warms, being in the sun!

Wellness takes intention.

No matter the season we are in, please consider utilizing Lacey's Mental Health Resource Guide.
