Olympic Middle School
Weekly Message for May 20-May 24
Good afternoon Olympic families and staff
We had a great turn out last Thursday evening for our incoming 5th graders and their families! It is hard to believe we are at this time in the year where we are transitioning and planning for the next school year. Our 6th grade students had a visit with OBJH school counselor Stacey Adams who was able to share information and take a “virtual” tour of campus. There will be an event before school starts in August with more information coming soon from Oakland Bay.
State testing continues this week with science for 5th grade Tuesday and Wednesday and then finishing up the week with the Math CAT. The following week has been set aside for students who need more time to finish or need to do makeup sessions.
Upcoming events:
- The last Native Ed PAC meeting will be on Tuesday 5/21 from 6:00-7:00 pm in the Shelton High School SUB.
- Senior Walk is scheduled for June 5th with students walking through OMS 12:55-1:10.
- Field day is June 6th.
- The 6th grade end of year award celebration will be on Wednesday, June 12th from 8:30-9:30 am. The celebration this year will consist of individual awards being handed out by homeroom teachers and then a cookie and photo opportunity in our commons. Students will bring home invitations this week.
- PEI field experience for 6th grade students will be June 13th and June 14th. This is a half day trip so students will be split into 4 groups. Homeroom teachers will be sharing information about which session your student will attend next week.
- Students who bought yearbooks can pick them up on Wednesday, June 14th during their lunch period. There are a few yearbooks left to purchase.
Intramurals:
- Monday practice for students who qualified for districts. Coach Riley sent an email out on Sunday to those families
- Tuesday is districts starting at 3:30 at SHS:
- District wraps up our track and field season! Thanks to everyone who participated!
Please remember that there is no school on Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day.
Let's have a wonderful week at Olympic!
