Kid's Heart Challenge
Dear Parents,
Students in grades K-6 have the opportunity to participate in “Kid’s Heart Challenge”” This is a statewide program sponsored by the American Heart Association and recognized by the Shawnee Mission School District. This event is held to fight heart disease and promote cardiovascular fitness. Jump rope and basketball fitness will be featured along with other movement activities.
The Rising Star “Kid’s Heart Challenge” will be held the week of March 25th – 28th during your child’s Physical Education class.
All money collected will go directly to The American Heart Association. All donations must be turned in to Mr. Haskell no later than Wednesday, April 10th. Refer to the packet for gifts that will be given for designated amounts raised. Make checks payable to the American Heart Association. Online donations are also available.
Students were given “Kid’s Heart Challenge” packets during Physical Education class.
One name will be drawn from all the participants and that student will receive a pizza party with two friends and Mr. Haskell!
Students do not have to know how to jump rope or play basketball in order to participate. Other activities will be offered to accommodate various ages and abilities. Students are not under any pressure to perform, but to simply exercise at their own pace and have fun.
Thank you,
Richard Haskell
