Lake Bluff Elementary School Family Newsletter
We have had another wonderful week and it is beginning to feel like the school year is in full swing. Maybe this is due to the fact that many of the events we associate with school are starting up — perhaps you are like me and have a difficult time keeping days and events straight. This Tuesday, I made my son dress up in his “picture day outfit” (not his favorite) and sent him to school only to find out from my very grumpy child that I had gotten the days mixed up and Picture Day at his school was not until Thursday. According to my son, being the only student dressed up in a polo shirt is the worst thing that can happen to a 4th grader. I shared with him that I was glad he had survived this difficult experience and hoped it has helped prepare him for future challenges. Feeling a little remorse, I let him pick out his own outfit for his actual Picture Day. I had to leave the house early and have no idea what he chose. I hope he is not wearing his PJ’s. Oh, well. there’s always retake day…
So, with that in mind, here are a few important upcoming dates:
Lake Bluff Centennial Celebration - Saturday 9/21
No School 4K -6th grade (Teacher PD Day) - Monday 9/23
Safety Week - Tuesday 9/24 - Friday 9/27
Picture Day - Thursday, 9/26
Please join us for our Centennial celebration on Saturday. The Shorewood Historical Society and the Lake Bluff PTO have put together a wonderful program and we would love to share the experience with you and your family..
I hope you all enjoy your weekend,
Johanna French, Interim Principal

Mapping Our Future: Take Our Survey Today!
This week, we’re discussing budgets and the impact that insufficient state funding has on education. The Shorewood School District is committed to delivering a high-quality education that empowers every student to excel in and out of the classroom.
However, rising costs and an unpredictable state funding system threaten our ability to maintain this tradition of excellence. Inadequate state funding creates challenges for our district.
To continue providing equitable opportunities for growth and success, our community must understand the increasing reliance on local property taxes to fund our schools.
Watch this brief video to learn more about state funding and its impact on our district’s budget planning process: https://app.screencastify.com/v3/watch/GY9WFvuK0IcELdReG3yb
Be sure to weigh in on this critical topic in the short survey on Friday!
