Aphrodite

Judgement of Paris
Eris is the goddess of strife, was offended because she wasn't invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis. For payback she threw a golden apple at them and said 'to the fairest'. She knew that this would cause a lot of trouble between all the Goddesses. Aphrodite, Hera and Athena asked Zeus whom he thought the golden apple belonged to. But Zeus didn't want to cause any more drama. He knew that if he said who he thought it may belong to he would incur the resentment between the goddesses. He said the mortal of Paris should decide who it may belong to.
All the goddesses went to see the mortal and told Paris what happened with the golden apple. All the goddesses offered Paris all sorts of prizes if he picked who it may belong to. Aphrodite promised the mortal a beautiful woman, called Helen. Helen was the wife of King Menelaus of Sparta. Aphrodite made Helen want to fall in love with Paris. When the couple ran away all the gards set off to capture Helen. That lasted for ten years.
