Falcon Update: Issue 9
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving week, filled with lots of food and the chance to create new memories with your loved ones. As we welcome the month of December, we’re excited to share some fantastic activities happening at Fitz!
This Thursday, December 5th, we’re hosting our Holiday Movie Day, an opportunity for students to enjoy some fun with friends. Then, next week, on December 10th, join us for our Annual Winter Concert. Bring the family and enjoy performances from our amazing artist here at Fitz.
We also want to remind you that Quarter 2 ends on December 20th. If your Falcon needs extra support on assignments or extra help on certain topics, please see our ELO schedule to find what days we have tutoring available. The schedule can be seen below. 👇

Noche de Tertulia
Our second Noche de Tertulia was a wonderful evening that brought families and community together to explore the cultural and historical significance of corn in our society. In partnership with Latinos Unidos and our PTO, the event featured engaging demonstrations and activities, including how to make tamales, tortillas, and cornbread, as well as games of Lotería. Families also learned about the rich history of corn and its profound impact on our communities. People in attendance also won prizes for answering questions related to the history of corn. Congratulations to all the winners!
The night was a memorable one, filled with delicious food, meaningful connections, and plenty of fun for everyone. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event such a success!
Falcon Focus Lesson of the Week: DWA
This week’s Falcon Focus Lesson is dedicated to helping students prepare for the upcoming District Writing Assessment (DWA). Teachers and students worked on essential writing skills, including crafting a strong introduction, clearly stating an opinion, and developing a thesis statement. These lessons are part of the writing support we’re providing to ensure students feel confident and ready for the DWA, which will take place on December 12th and 13th.
