Wildwood Weekly News
January 31st, 2025
Principal Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
January Ends with another Friday with another different type of weather. This time lots and lots of snow. This week we had Pancake Breakfast on Tuesday provided by our School Council Volunteers, and our regular Thursday hot breakfast by Brightwood Ranch.
Next week will be a short one with students off on Thursday and Friday so that teachers can go learn at Teachers Convention in Edmonton. While some towns further away have early dismissal, Wildwood School will follow our regular schedule.
This Friday also represented the last week of Ms. Gunderman's illustrious career at Wildwood School. There are no words to fully relay the amazing contribution she has made to our school and community in her over 30 years of service. She will be greatly missed.
If you would still like to provide feedback on the playground for the new school the link is here, of the QR code below. There will be an ad hoc committee that is meeting prior to the FOPLS meeting at GT, on February 4th. Please see below for more info.
If you have any questions or concerns you can always reach out to the school through the office or email me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca.
Sincerely,
Alan Stoyles
Principal

Spotlight on School Improvement: Assurance Survey Continued
How do we use the Assurance Survey Data? Each year at one of our Early Professional Development days staff review the results from the annual Alberta Assurance Survey. This provides us with a view of how we are doing compared to the rest of the province, division and our previous years. It contains data like PAT scores, but also the results from parents, student, and staff responses. A combination of this helps tell us what we need to keep doing well, where we have improved, and where we need to focus more effort. It helps to inform the school goals as outlined in our School Continuous Improvement plan. As the date for the survey approaches please remember that this acts as a "report card" for the school, and "don't know" answers are reported as negatives, so if you don't know, please ask!

Ad Hoc Playground Committee Message
Dear parents/guardians,
Re: Playground for Grand Trunk
Principal Heidi Zadderey would like to gather parents/guardians input on a new playground. As such, she is putting together an ad hoc group and inviting parents and guardians to join and take part in collecting information and making decisions regarding the new playground. This group will disperse after they decide on some details surrounding the playground. The information collected will be presented to the fundraising group Friends of Pembina Learning Society and their grant writer.
The first meeting of the Ad Hoc group will take place on Tuesday, February 4th at 5:00pm at Grand Trunk High School. It is short notice but the reason for selecting this date is to help move things forward for the grant writer and because it is the same date as the FOPLS fundraising group meeting which takes place at 6:30pm. This allows anyone who wants to attend both, the opportunity to do so.
If you have questions please reach out to Carla Gylander at carla.christensen1@gmail.com.
Working Across Schools: A Message from Evansburg PAC.
Parents and Guardians of Wildwood School, I am reaching out to see who might be interested in helping with our annual Grouch’s Ball. I am sure the news has spread that we will need to fundraise for a playground at the new school. Evansview PAC has decided that a portion of our profit we will be making a donation for the new playground. That being said, if you have free time April 25th to help assemble donated items and possibly help set up please reach out. Or possibly April 27th for take down. Please reach out by email! Also, please feel more than welcome to attend!! We would love to see more of the Wildwood community there to make it an ever bigger success! Thank you for your support!
