Community Connections
Stanwood-Camano School District newsletter for Friday, Aug. 30
Hello community members!
Please join me in extending a warm welcome back to all our students, families, and staff. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with fun and relaxation. During the summer months, the district is working hard to prepare for the new school year, and we are excited and ready!
Our teachers have been back in action in recent days, preparing for the year ahead. Our maintenance staff has cleaned, polished, refreshed, and repaired our buildings to make them ready for your return. Our food service team members are ready to serve meals to students. Our transportation team cannot wait to greet our students on the first day of school. And, as you know, our dedicated staff in our school offices are bustling with getting students registered and ready for school.
Our staff's commitment to our promise — that every student is empowered to learn in an inclusive setting and is prepared for the future of their choice — is the cornerstone of our school communities. It truly takes a team, and we have an exceptional one!
We are incredibly excited to welcome students back for another year of growth, learning, and achievement. Here’s to a fantastic school year ahead!

Time to adjust driving habits
With school starting next week, we want to urge ALL drivers to brush up on the rules when it comes to safely operating around school buses and school zones:
- You must ALWAYS stop if you are traveling in the same direction as the school bus.
- On a two-lane road, traffic in both directions needs to stop.
- Please keep in mind that even if you are not required to stop, you need to proceed with caution.
- Failure to stop for a school bus can run you a $500 ticket.
- Remember that 20 mph school zones are active again — so drive cautiously near our schools and crosswalks!

New communication tools coming soon
We are thrilled to announce that our school district will be launching a brand-new website in the near future! This upgrade aims to enhance your experience and provide easier access to important information about our schools, programs, and events.
The website will feature a wealth of resources in a more user-friendly experience on desktop as well as on your mobile device. Additionally, the website accompanies new robust communication services, allowing the district to consolidate needed features and save money.
We plan to launch the website on Monday, Sept. 9. Stay tuned for more details, including a mobile app that should debut later this fall.
