Charger Check-In
May 16, 2024
A Note from Ms. Owens
We are busy with field trips, 8th grade activities and end-of-year traditions! Our sixth graders assisted with Special Olympics last Friday. On Wednesday, our fifth graders visited Brookfield Zoo. And today, our PK3 students took a trip to Lake Katherine. Friday, our 8th graders will celebrate their Ribbon Mass followed by a breakfast in Kane Hall. Classrooms are preparing for next week's Field Days.
Thank you and congratulations to Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Bryk for a fun Flower Sale & Charger Market on Saturday last weekend! The weather was warm and sunny (with a bit too much wind) and the vendors offered diverse and quality items. It was great to see kids running around, getting their face painted and joining in the Candy Walk.
We will have a packed day at St. Catherine on Wednesday, May 22.
- All students, staff and faculty are invited to wear blue and/or green to support Neurofibromatosis Awareness. A $1 donation is requested. All money raised will be donated to NF Midwest.
- We will celebrate an All-School Liturgy at 8:30AM. We won't have mass on Friday due to Field Day.
- Our wonderful School Advisory Board is providing a donut from Doughs Guys for all students, faculty and staff. Doughs Guys is NOT a nut-free environment. If your student is not able to have one of these treats, please fill out this Google Form by Monday, May 20 at 3PM. The school will provide an alternate treat that is safe for your student.
- We will have a great end to our day with our Student Talent Showcase in the gym at 1:30PM. Parents are most welcome to attend.

Field Days Are Coming!!!
Our annual Field Days are set for Thursday, May 23 (K-3) and Friday, May 24 (4-7). Mr. McCann is planning fun competitive games and I know they will be spirited days.
As you may know, one of the traditions for Field Day is decorating a t-shirt as a homeroom. Each homeroom is assigned a color - either red or white - and students bring in a t-shirt in that particular color. The t-shirts are decorated as an in-school, class activity and students wear their shirt to school on their Field Day. The assigned colors are below.
Girls Basketball Evaluations
Evaluations for girls basketball are scheduled to begin next week. The dates and times are below. All evaluations will take place in the SCA gym.
- Athletes should arrive 10-15 minutes early so that we can check them in and assign them a jersey number.
- We also ask that they refrain from wearing anything with their last name on it or club affiliation.
- There will be no parents allowed in the gym during the evaluations.

Some Dates for Next School Year
Several of the important dates for the 2024-2025 school are listed below. One change you will notice is a different dismissal time on the days prior to Christmas and Easter breaks as well as on the last day of school. Due to the continuing Arch-wide professional development days and the start of our annual carnival and to avoid starting school in the second full week of August, we needed to eliminate our half-days (11:30AM dismissals). The tentative calendar that overviews the entire school year in more detail will be shared in the next week or two. Several families asked for next year's date for First Holy Communion. I will add that as soon as I can confirm the date. I appreciate your patience.
