Senior Scholarship Update

Lake Country Power Les Beach Memorial HS Scholarship: Deadline Jan 31
Seniors can apply for $4,000 scholarships ($1,000 each year for 4 years) from Lake Co Power. Parent/Guardian must be a member of Lake Country Power; GPA 2.5 or higher; Essay and 2 letters of recommendation are required.

Blandin Foundation Scholarships - Receive a grant up to $5000 per year based on family adjusted gross income less than $125,000. Must apply every year in school and can apply until age 25 if pursuing a degree. Jan 2- Mar 1

Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation (GRACF.org) Scholarship Application is now open.

Deadline: March 1

Application contains 140 scholarships totaling $170k from local businesses, organizations and individuals.

Families of seniors attending post secondary education for 2024/25 school year will need to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The form has changed and more students will qualify for aid than ever before! Apply now: FAFSA APPLICATION

THUNDERHAWK SCHOLARSHIPS: 40+ local scholarships are managed through GRHS for GRHS and ALC students. Scholarships include: Paul Bunyan Communications, Eagles, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and many, many others. Students complete 1 application for all the scholarships they qualify for. Deadline: Feb 20.

The Alworth Scholarship is for seniors in NE MN counties who are going into STEM majors after high school. Qualify for up to $24,000 distributed over eight semesters ($3,00 per semester)

Foundation of Rural Service (FRS) Application Scholarship Deadline: February 16

• (30) $2500 scholarships.
• Express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation, as discussed in the essay.
• Guardian should be a member of Paul Bunyan Communications (when you make an NTCA account, choose Paul Bunyan out of Bemidji)

Minnesota Masonic Charities: Deadline is Feb 15

• (36) awards to MN Seniors going to 4 year schools from $3k- $5k up to 4 years. Varies based on GPA 3.0 and up.
• (10) awards to MN Seniors going to 2 year schools $1500 for 2 years.
• (40) awards to MN Seniors going to Trade/Vocational/Technical Schools; $1500 for 2 years.
• Membership with the Masonic Lodge is NOT a requirement

Brookstone Manor Deadline: Thurs Feb 29

• This assisted Living Facility in Grand Rapids, is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating GRHS senior pursuing a healthcare career.
• Application

MN State Horticultural Society Scholarships: Deadline March 15

Scholarships from $250-$600 are offered to students with interest and participation in horticultural/gardening activities.

• Short essay (at least 200 words) describing your involvement/experiences in horticulture and gardening.
• MN Horticultural Scholarship Application or get a copy in the counseling office
