Breakfast Club Celebration
We are so proud of the students who met their goal and earned a spot in our Breakfast Club Celebration on Friday! Their dedication and commitment to starting the day on the right foot to practice their reading skills have truly paid off. 🏆👏
A big thank you to our parents for supporting their success by ensuring they arrive at school early to have this work time. Consistency is key! Let’s keep up the great work. We look forward to celebrating even more students next time! Keep up the great work! 🍎✨
Congratulations to our 4th Grade Bridge Competitors
A huge congratulations to all of our 4th-grade engineers who participated in the Bridge Competition on Saturday! Your creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork were on full display as you designed and tested your structures. We are so proud of your hard work and dedication!
A special round of applause to the teams whose bridges held 100 pounds of pressure—an incredible achievement! 💪👏 Your strong designs and perseverance truly impressed us all. Keep dreaming big, thinking critically, and pushing the limits of what you can build. We can’t wait to see what you create next!
Chick-fil-a Spirit Night
Tomorrow is our next PTA Spirit Night at Chick-fil-a! Make a purchase at the Pelham Road Chick-fil-a between 4:00-8:00pm and MRES will receive a portion of the proceeds. Be sure to mention to them that you are there for our spirit night if you order in-person or through the drive thru. If you order with the app, make a note that you are part of Mitchell Road Elementary's Spirit Night.
Take a night off cooking while supporting our school!
Capturing Kids' Hearts - March
This month we will focus on the character trait of courage. Courage is developing strength to face something difficult. Check out these newsletters to learn more about how you can talk about this important skill with your child: English version and Spanish version.
Parent Climate Survey
Parents, it is time to give your input about for the parent climate survey that goes with our state report card data. The survey can be found through your parent backpack account. We encourage parents to complete this survey to give us valuable input into your views of Mitchell Road. The survey will be open until Friday ,April 11, 2025 at 10:00pm. Parents of students in any grade may complete a survey, including K4, K5, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. A parent/guardian may complete one parent survey for each of their students. If you have issues with survey technology, please email me at JHolman@greenville.k12.sc.us and I can contact the district for you. You can find the link in your parent backpack account like the picture below.
A Note from Nurse Robin
Please remember that per DHEC regulations, students cannot return to school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the aid of fever reducing medication. This means when a student is sent home from school with a fever, they cannot return the next day. A doctor's note does not allow them to return early. We have to follow DHEC regulations.
Substitutes Needed!
Parents, YOU might be able to help keep our school AND get paid while doing it. We need SUBS! When teachers have to be out for planned appointments, sickness, family emergencies, etc., we have not had enough substitutes lately to keep all classes covered.
If you are able to help serve as a substitute for Greenville County Schools, please follow this link to get started and be sure to let us know (CLICK HERE to email Mrs. Holman). We will be happy to help facilitate the process. You may choose to work at any school or you can select Mitchell Road exclusively. Work only on the days that fit your schedule. We even have the option for substitutes to cover the whole day or a half AM or half PM option. The AM half option is from 7:15 - 11:00am and the PM half option is 11:01am - 2:45pm. We appreciate your consideration to help the school by serving as a substitute!

Hurricane Helene Makeup Days
The Board of Trustees voted to forgive 3 instructional days missed due to Hurricane Helene. In accordance with state law, the State Department of Education is requiring districts to make up 3 of the days missed during Hurricane Helene, which would then allow our local school board to excuse 3 days and the State Board of Education to excuse 3 days. The district’s plan for addressing the 8 missed days from Hurricane Helene is as follows:
- 3 Makeup Self-paced eLearning Days (Friday, March 14; Friday, April 18; and Saturday, May 10, 2025)
- 3 Days Forgiven by GCS Board of Trustees (approved)
- Up to 3 Days Forgiven by SC State Board of Education (pending approval in April)
Greenville County Schools will make up three days missed from Hurricane Helene using self-paced, asynchronous (no live instruction) eLearning on the following days: Friday, March 14; Friday, April 18; and Saturday, May 10. Students and teachers will not need to be online for these makeup days; teachers will provide students with assignments that can be completed within five school days upon return to school. Details about how self-paced, asynchronous eLearning will be conducted, the complete plan for making up days, and other FAQs can be found on the Greenville County Schools website.
