LRMS: Week at a Glance
April 25 - 29, 2016
Sayings from Skinner
And the last week of April is upon us -- and already moving on through. As April showers give way to May flowers (and the impending warm weather and sunshine of summer), I hope we will continue to help our kids stay focused on all that THEY have left to do this year. We have already seen the "sap rising" in some of our kids, and there are some antics happening --- we are all trying our best to keep YOU all have worked hard; YOU all have been diligent, determined, and dedicated; YOU all have given of yourselves, your energy, and your talents --- now, is the time of year when we should be reaping our rewards -- and with many of our students, we ARE!! So LOUDLY PRAISE them, LAUD them, LIFT them up!! They have done awesome things and continue to be awesome. For those who have not yet "seen the light," please continue to push, goad, encourage, and "show tough love" until the final hour -- but THEY must rise to the occasion. Our primary responsibility is to make sure we have teaching and learning ongoing until the end of the year AND that we inform parents consistently and continually of how they can help their children (and what their children can do) at this point to make a different.
Please be mindful of emails and information concerning Academic Contracts, Parent Communication/Documentation, and Promotion/Summer School/Retention Guidelines -- we ALL need to be thoroughly informed --- AND we need to ALL be giving out good, solid, accurate information -- when in doubt about any of these details, ASK!
Thanks for your great work with testing -- and with keeping the learning going strong. We have much to celebrate --- for those of you who didn't know, last week was National Assistant Principals Week, and this week is National Administrative Assistants/Clerical Support Celebration Week --- please take a moment and recognize the many folks in our building who give so tirelessly day in and day out!!!
Have a fantastic week!!
Sarah

Short and Sweet -- More to Come in Faculty Meeting by Memo (ON FRIDAY)
From Holly Hall: "Quizlet recently released a game format called Quizlet Live. It uses your existing sets of Quizlet vocabulary cards to create a collaborative game. Students are placed (by the computer) into small groups and the whole group sees the same definition but each student has 3-4 different words on his/her screen. They have to talk as a team to decide which term is the correct one for the definition. If they miss a term they have to go back and start over again. I had my students play with the iPad lab in the Media Center on Friday and they were clamoring to play again! Full engagement and all they were really doing was reviewing the key content vocabulary they need to know for Milestones."
