Engagement Strategy of the Month
It is essential to ensure students are discussing information that they learn in class. To make sure that students are owners of their learning teachers at Manual Arts utilize engagement structures to encourage student dialogue.
The Strategy for August and September is:
Round Robin
Round Robins are a great and easy way to start Kagan Structures in your classroom. Any time you pose an open-ended question a Round Robin can be used. The reason Round Robins are so great is that they give ALL students a chance to share their thoughts or ideas. We are NOT just calling on ONE student, we are allowing ALL students to respond within a lesson.
The steps to a Round Robin:
- Teacher poses an open-ended question
- Students are given think time
- Teacher selects the student to start (#1-4)
- Students take turns in number order sharing their idea

We’re proud of our students for making attendance a priority—keep up the great work, Toilers! A big thank you to Ms. Aguilar and Mr. Uwagboi for organizing this wonderful event. Exciting First Night Game Under the New Lights!
This past Thursday, Manual Arts High School made history by playing its first-ever night game under our brand-new field lights! Although the team faced a tough opponent and ended the night with a loss, the energy and excitement in the stands were unforgettable.
