iReady Mypath Advisory Challenge
We're kicking off a school wide competition to boost learning and celebrate hard work! I want to see which advisory can complete the most iReady personalized lessons each week!
Here’s the challenge:
- Goal: The advisory with the highest percentage of students completing their iReady personalized lessons each week wins!
- Reward for Students: The winning advisory will receive a donut party the following Monday.
- Reward for Teachers: The advisory teacher of the winning class will be awarded a designated parking spot for the entire week.
Let’s see which advisory can top the leaderboard!
To recognize individual hard work, any student who passes 20 or more iReady lessons per month with a score of 70% or higher will be invited to a special celebratory lunch! This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate dedication and success in a fun way.
Encourage your students to aim high, complete their lessons, and join us for this exclusive event!
2024 Instructional Focus
Culturally Responsive and Welcoming Classroom Environment by using the Classroom Environment Checklist.
Academic Discourse by using Cooperative Learning Strategies.
Writing Across the Curriculum by using CER.
Increasing Rigor by using level 3 and 4 DOK questions.
White Board Configuration
White board configuration communicates the purpose of instruction which helps students better understand lesson activities. The whiteboard is often the first place students look for guidance on what they are learning. To ensure students’ success, we want to clearly communicate the learning each day.
White board configuration should include:
Student-Friendly Content Standard
Learning Target/Content/Learning Objective (same)
ELD Standard
Language Objective
Agenda
Make sure the writing on the Whiteboard configuration is neat. Printing items for whiteboard configuration is also an option.

Student Work
Click here to find a list of student work options that can be displayed in your classroom by content area. Displaying current student work in your classroom can help our students learn and feel more engaged in their work by:
- Sense of belonging: Students feel more significant and like they belong in the classroom when they see their work on display.
- Learn from each other: Students can learn from their classmates and see different approaches to assignments.
- Understand purpose: Students can see the purpose behind their work and that it's important.
- Make mistakes: Students can see that it's okay to make mistakes and that they can work together to improve.
- Teachers learn: Teachers can learn from student work and improve their instruction.
Student work should be updated every two weeks.Thank you for your continued commitment to maintaining high standards and supporting student success.

Engagement Strategy of the Month
It is essential to ensure students are discussing information that they learn in class. To make sure that students are owners of their learning teachers at Manual Arts utilize engagement structures to encourage student dialogue.
The Strategy for October and November is:
Think-Ink-Pair-Share
The Think-Ink-Pair-Share strategy helps students develop their critical thinking skills while bringing writing into content classroom instruction in a way that is non-threatening yet meaningful for students. The strategy helps students in the following critical thinking areas: making predictions, problem solving, decision making, and consensus building.
Think-Ink-Pair-Share involves a four step cooperative structure.
- Students think silently about a question posed by the instructor.
- Students write down what they want to share with their partners. This gives them a chance to put their thoughts in order.
- Students exchange thoughts with a partner.
- The pairs share their responses with other pairs, other teams, or the entire group.
- An option at the end is to write what their partner shared. They can also add to or change their initial writing.
Think-Ink-Pair-Share was designed to ensure that students have an opportunity to consider their oral responses, written work, thinking and ideas with another person in anticipation that they will be expected to share with the whole class.
