Dear Parent(s)/ Guardian(s):
This week's background can only mean one thing--The annual Crosstown Showdown is here !! The games are today at Trumbull High School– the boys game tips off at 3:00 followed by the girls game at approximately 4:30. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online using this link. Snacks, refreshments, and raffle prizes will be available! We hope to see many of you there in MADISON COLORS to support our athletes!

Our Girls team prepared for the game with a pizza party on Thursday afternoon-- in between slices they made the spirit posters which they proudly display in the "final photo" below. On a semi-related the note, our insert photo this week features a fun Friday game of "capture the flag"-- maybe just maybe one of our basketball teams will "capture the trophy" today.
Once the excitement of the Crosstown Showdown subsides, we next look forward to:
🧩Panther Play Day 🎮
Panther Play Day is Thursday, February 13th. This event will be a dedicated time in the afternoon for students and staff to connect about shared interests. Please review this menu as signups will begin Friday, January 31st at 6:00 AM. The Google Form to signup will be posted in grade level Google Classrooms. Panthers Love To Play Day is an opportunity for every student to connect with adults in the building through active, engaging learning beyond the traditional classroom. The following Parent Letter provides more information on the event.
Trumbull High School will host a Grade 8 to 9 transition night in the THS Auditorium on February 5th beginning at 6 pm. All current Trumbull Public School 8th graders are encouraged to attend and sit with their parents/guardians. Snow Date is 2/11 (Tuesday) at 6pm. Current 8th graders should have received an invite to the Class of 2029 Google Classroom for Trumbull High School. Please accept this invitation even if you are attending a high school other than Trumbull High.
This week, 8th grade students will receive the Course Selection Elective Sheet and the 9th Grade Elective Course Options Sheet in their ELA classes. Students (and their parents) should review and complete the Course Selection Elective Sheet prior to the high school counselors’ visit to Madison on Friday, February 7th. At that time the counselors will answer any questions students may have and will collect the completed forms.
Please note: All 8th graders must complete a Course Selecion Elective Sheet, even if they plan to attend a private high school.
Starting on Monday, January 27, and running through Friday, February 7, NJHS will be sponsoring a Toiletry Drive to benefit ImpactTrumbull. We will be collecting travel- and full-sized toiletry items to help fill Blessing Bags and Care Caddies for those in need. Please donate if you can!

We made it through what I hope will prove to be the coldest week of this winter (the temperatures can't get any lower, can they?). Our students were also cooperative with their completion of i-Ready testing, demonstrating a determination to show off their growth from the baseline test in September. Many students have been very happy with their improved scores, and we try to make sure to share our pride with them. Our students have definitely earned the right to have some fun, whether it be at the Crosstown Showdown games today, during Panther Play Day, or through their continued participation in the many clubs and activities which you read about every week. Owing to your ongoing support of your children, I think that you have all earned the right to some fun too-- so I hope you have the very best weekend !!
Take care,
Peter Sullivan
