Week at Windsor 5.25.20
Looking back and ahead at Windsor news and happenings...
Dear Windsor Families,
Happy Memorial Day! We hope this message finds you well.
It is difficult to believe we are approaching our final days of school. We are looking forward to these last learning days with our students.
We are also so excited about this Friday's All School Windsor Reverse Parade. We sent a separate communication home and have included details in this Week at Windsor as well.
All this month, we have been offering office hours on Tuesday mornings from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM by appointment. These appointments have been to support registration, printed copies, and other miscellaneous needs.
- This week we will keep office hours during Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Our Lost & Found will be available for families to visit. We also have some leftover donated games, puzzles, coloring books, etc. from our Windsor PTA Cares Committee, if families want to pick out free time activities for the summer days ahead.
- Please use this form (link) to notify Ms. Boston, if you would like to visit one of these office hour days.
Visits again need to be by appointment only to maintain safety. Visitors should wear PPE.
To all of you who have served our country or who have loved ones who served our country past or present, we thank you very much for your service and honor you this day.

Windsor Retirees
This week, we were able to honor and celebrate our retirees, albeit, remotely! All of them have been at Windsor or in District 25 for many years as noted below. Their service has been invaluable. While we are so happy for them to be moving onto this next chapter in their lives, we are also so sad not to have them with us this upcoming school year. Please join us in thanking and congratulating all of this year's retirees.
Susan Alagna-20 years
Susan Klarner-31 years
Gail Komarek-23 years
Joanne Lesniak-23 years
AHCPTA 2020 Scholarship Winners
Congrats to all nine AHCPTA 2020 scholarship winners & a special shout-out to Jonathan Kho & Greta Brablec (Windsor Wildcats Class of 2013)!
Here is a video recognizing all of this year's recipients.
Windsor Staffing Updates
Personnel and staffing is never finalized until the start of school in August and always subject to change. However, we want to share a few updates as we get ready to close this school year.
Because of our current anticipated class sections, we need to wish Mrs. Jennifer Licato, part-time Kindergarten teacher, good-bye. We are very sorry to have her go and are so thankful for her service to Windsor this past year. We wish Mrs. Licato all the best in her future endeavors. Additionally, Ms. Anna Bauer, EL teacher, will be transferring to Westgate Elementary School. She, too, has been a valuable member of the Windsor team. We know she will be a great addition there as well and are happy she is able to remain a member of the District 25 team.
Mrs. Julie Paxson and Mrs. Lisa Swedo's long-term job share teaching assignment will come to an end this school year. It has been a great partnership for students, colleagues, and families alike. We appreciate their time and efforts to make it work so well for everyone. We are happy to have them both at Windsor full-time next school year. Mrs. Julie Paxson will continue teaching first grade. Mrs. Lisa Swedo will bring her expertise back to our EL team teaching grades K-5 students.
Ms. Meghan Martin will be moving from third grade into a new special services Resource teacher position. She has been a wonderful teacher and team member the past two years for third grade. We are pleased to have her in this new position, where we know she will continue to be an asset bringing both her general education and special education teaching experiences and lenses to students, colleagues, and families alike here at Windsor Elementary School.
Our current third grade class has gone through their primary years with 5 class sections. Due to current enrollment and the full transition to intermediate, for next school year, we anticipate the need for only 4 sections of fourth grade at this time.
We are still very much in the process of registration. Both as a district and as a school, we continue to monitor primary and intermediate student enrollment and class sizes for optimal balance. Similar to other years, we will add class sections throughout the summer as needed.
With the announcement of Mrs. Gail Komarek's retirement, we are in the process of hiring a new Library Media Center (LMC) Director.

District 25 COVID-19 Resources Page
https://www.sd25.org/Page/1478
As the Illinois stay at home and school closing order came through on Friday, we just want to highlight the above page once more for families. It contains a number of different local and state resources.
Additionally, the Illinois Department of Human Services launched a free emotional support text line for Illinoisans experiencing stress related to COVID-19: Call4Calm. This isn’t a crisis hotline, but a source of support. If you want to speak to a counselor, text TALK to 552020, or HABLAR for Spanish speakers.
You can also access a wider array of supports using the same number on your mobile phone. Text 552020 with keywords such as “unemployment” or “food” or “shelter” to receive information to help you navigate getting assistance.
