New books for the library purchased with Scholastic points. Thank you for ordering Scholastic books. Points are loaded to the school for every purchase made which means we can keep our library stocked with popular books for our tamariki.
Piwakawaka Trip to see The Great Piratical Rumbustification
What a fun production our Piwakawaka students enjoyed when they attended the Great Piratical Rumbustification performed at the Due Drop Event Centre in Manukau. A big thank you to our parent helpers and to Miss Allen and Ms Peterson for organising this fabulous trip.
BOOK WEEK 2024
A big thank you must go to Ms Alana Sangster for once again organising a wonderful and exciting Book Week for our tamariki. It was great to see the children dressed as their favourite book characters and also to see our staff join the fun by dressing as pirates from the Margaret Mahy book, The Great Piratical Rubustification.
ECCS NEWS
East Counties Country Schools Term 2 Events
It has been a very busy term for E.C.C.S. events this term. Throughout all the events our students have represented Ardmore very well, participating with pride and demonstrating great sportsmanship.
The first event was E.C.C.S. Rugby. Year 7 & 8 students who played rugby for a local club were able to trial for the three E.C.C.S. teams. Ardmore did very well and Calvi Diack, Khyrin Manukau-Moevao and Sean Manukau-Moevao were selected for the Open Team. Mason John and Sangato Kaloni were selected for the Under 55kg team. The E.C.C.S. teams competed in the Counties Rugby Tournament at Bruce Pulman Park where they opposed other teams from throughout Counties. The teams did extremely well and the Open Team came 4th, playing their last game with thirteen players. Congratulations to all the boys involved. A special thank you to Mr Andre Schutte who coached the E.C.C.S. Open Team.
The next E.C.C.S. event was the Hunua Principals, E.C.C.S. Mathex Competition which was hosted by Ardmore School. Students, in teams of 4, competed in their year group against other schools. The aim was to answer 20 Mathematical questions correctly in 30 minutes. Each team had a runner who had to collect a question, the team then answered it before taking it to a marker who told them if the answer was correct. If it was correct the team gained a new question. If the answer was incorrect they could pass or attempt the question again. This was a very noisy and enjoyable competition. A special thank you to Mrs Stananought who came to be our scorer for the event and the Year 7 & 8 helpers who assisted throughout the day. Well done to the Ardmore Teams who competed in the event.
The E.C.C.S. Netball Funday is a highly anticipated event. Ardmore sent two Year 5 & 6 teams and two Year 7 & 8 teams to compete in the tournament. The focus of the day was enjoyment, having a go at netball and developing confidence as the teams played 6 games. All of the students enjoyed their day and increased in confidence and skill as the day progressed. Thank you to the parent helpers who managed our teams, this event would not be possible without your support.
After the Funday there was a netball trial for confident students to go on to participate in the ECCS competition.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated in all our events. We are very proud of you. A special thank you to Miss P who organised the events and ran the E.C.C.S. Mathex competition.
PINK SHIRT DAY
Pink Shirt Day this year was well supported by the whole school. A great way to focus awareness on this anti bullying initiative.
SHOWQUEST
We would also like to acknowledge all our wonderful parent helpers who contributed to this wonderful experience.
