February 2025 ENews
Greetings Families!
As we approach the end of trimester 2 in about four weeks, I'm continually impressed by the learning updates I receive from students who are collaborating or working independently in the hallways and classrooms. It's wonderful to hear about their experiences and witness their growth! We want to recognize this growth and academic achievement by sharing the trimester 1 honor roll lists, included in this email. We know there is growth around every corner at RMS, and we will continue to find ways to celebrate both big and small achievements throughout the year.
We have some exciting activities planned in the coming weeks, starting with our grade-level field trips on February 14th:
6th Grade: Maple Grove Community Center! Students will receive a pass granting access to the Open Gym (available until noon), Maple Maze Indoor Playground, Teen Center, Ice Arena skating, and a board game room (room 133).
7th Grade: Elm Creek Tubing! Students will receive a tubing pass. Elm Creek makes its own snow, so tubing is guaranteed regardless of the weather! Concessions and a heated chalet are available.
8th Grade: Nickelodeon Universe in Bloomington! Students will receive an unlimited ride wristband. Staff will supervise throughout the theme park and in the North and South food courts. Students may only leave Nickelodeon Universe to eat lunch in the supervised food court areas; no other shopping or attractions are permitted.
Important Field Trip Notes for Families:
Attendance: If your child is not attending the field trip, please enter their absence in StudentVUE or call the absence line, 763-506-5806 (this absence can be noted as personal).
Parent Pick-up: Please plan to pick up your child at the end of the school day, as usual.
Questions: Please contact your child’s Royal Rally Teacher with any field trip questions.
We also have an all-school activity night planned for Tuesday, February 20th, from 3:10-4:45 pm. Those details are outlined below.
Finally, please remind your students about safety when walking home from school. We went over safety information at the beginning of the year, please review this with your student. I also shared a video message with students during their Royal Rally, which included updates and reminders about devices, passes, lockers, backpacks, and bathroom/locker pass procedures.

Reporting Student Absences and Late Arrival Procedure
Calling in student absences or late arrivals
As a reminder, all attendance-related matters should be reported through the ParentVue app or on the absence line.
To report a student absence or late arrival via phone, please dial 763-506-5800 and press #1 to leave a message. The absence line is monitored regularly throughout the day, with a strong focus in the morning hours.
Going forward, if one bypasses the option (#1) to leave a message about attendance, the staff member who answers your call will transfer your call to the absence line for you to leave a message.
Thank you for reviewing this process. We are often supporting students in the morning and working to help them get off to a great start. Families utilizing the attendance line helps us be more efficient and be available to best support the students in front of us on a daily basis.
If there is an urgent attendance matter and you need to speak to a staff member, please press "0". The direct attendance line is 763-506-5806 if one wishes to bypass the prompts.
