Congratulations go out to the following students and staff member for being chosen as this week's Fox Friday winners, Oliver, Maddie, Gavin and our staff member, Mrs. Miller! Thank you for demonstrating the characteristics of the Fox Four and for being such great role models!!
Culinary Arts Students Host Second Mock Food Truck- Neon Arcade
Healthy Snack Prep for Preschoolers: World of Children Class Focuses on Nutrition and Safety
Mrs. Morse's World of Children class recently worked in the Foods Lab, preparing healthy snacks for preschoolers. The students were given specific lesson plan themes to follow, ensuring they adhered to MyPlate guidelines while also considering potential concerns for children, such as allergies and choking hazards.
Girls Basketball Team Maintains Winning Momentum
Both the Girls JV and Varsity basketball teams defeated the North Fond du Lac Orioles on Tuesday, January 14th. The JV team secured a 58-42 victory, while the Varsity team triumphed in a tightly contested game, finishing 48-44. The JV2 team also earned a win, beating the Oconto Falls Panthers 35-23. The girls will be back on their home court tonight to face Laconia.
Flyway Focus Includes Omro's Ava as a Week 1/6 Leader!
Junior Ava was included in Flyway Focus's week of January 6 as a top leader in points, rebounds, assists and steals!! Amazing!!! Keep it up, Ava!
Boy's Basketball Team Rolls On with Another Win!
The Boy's basketball team pulled out another win in 2025! They played the Berlin Indians on Monday and they outscored them 66-63!
The boys played against the Laconia Spartans on Thursday, but unfortunately, their streak ended with a loss of 55-63. We wish them the best on the road next week as they travel to Lomira on Friday, January 24!
Dance Team Places at Kaukauna Dance Invite
Saturdays are for dance competitions! The Dance team placed third in both their kick and pom routines at the Kaukauna Dance Invitational on Saturday, January 11th. Also, Kira and Lydia both placed 3rd and 5th respectively in their solo performances. Well done, Ladies! The team will participate in Regionals on Saturday, January 25th. Best of luck to you all!
Bowling Team
The boys' team secured a thrilling 5-4 victory over Neenah, overcoming a 1-3 deficit to tie the match at 4-4. With the match on the line, they delivered in the deciding 9th game, winning 169-157 and improving their record to 6-3. Meanwhile, the girls' varsity team fell short against Neenah but still posted a solid team average of 123. The team will look to bounce back when they face Appleton East at Fox Lanes in Omro on Tuesday, January 21, at 4:00 pm.

Cold Weather Student Preparedness
With the colder weather here, it is important that students do NOT arrive to school before the doors open at 7:30am. Students are not allowed in the building prior to the doors being opened. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. They can always change once they arrive at school, but should have warmer clothes to and from school and to keep in their locker.
For our bus riders also, please make sure your child is dressed for the weather as bus emergencies can and do happen. It is best to always be prepared! Thank you!

Kiwanis Informational/Organizational Meeting- Please Join Us on Wednesday, January 22!
Kiwanis is an international service organization dedicated to building community on a local level and changing the world one child, one community at a time. While we may address many different needs in a community, our focus has always been on youth, and we are proud to offer service leadership programs at the elementary and middle school level and in high school with Key Club and college with Circle K. Kiwanis has a rich history in Omro and contributed significantly to the life of the community, and it is our hope to rekindle Kiwanis and bring it back, believing that the time is now right for that effort.
What: Informational and organizational meeting; light refreshments provided
Where: Middle/High School Library. Enter through main door of school 455 Fox Trail.
When: Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 6:00 pm.
We hope to identify some interested people who could help in the organizational effort, but are mostly interested in answering your questions about Kiwanis. If you cannot be present but have some interest, please let me know and we can follow up with you individually.

**DATE CHANGE- OoMPA Chili Supper Scheduled
Mark your calendars for Thursday, February 27 (Not January 30, as previously advertised)– it’s Chili Supper Night! From 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, head over to the High School Commons for an all-you-can-eat meal featuring chili or macaroni and cheese, breadsticks, and a beverage. You can also pre-order chili and crackers for two by visiting this link for a pick up and go meal. Want something sweet? Pie will be available for an extra charge! Tickets are now available at all school offices – don’t miss out!
Family Literacy Night- Dive into Reading - Let’s Go Under the Sea!
Family Literacy Night will be held at Omro Elementary School on Thursday, March 13th, 2025 from
5:30pm - 7:30pm.
There are lots of fun activities planned. Here is the line up of activities planned for the night:

Possibly earn $100, $50, or $25 for writing and presenting an original speech.
The Oshkosh Noon Optimist Club is once again sponsoring a speech contest.
Speech Topic: "How Optimism Has Guided Me Through Trying Times"
Time Limit: Not under 4 minutes or over 5 minutes.
If interested, see Mrs. Miller to sign up and receive the official guidelines and application form.
Due Date: Must have speech written and given to Mrs. Miller by January 20.
Presentation Date: Wednesday, February 5.
Top three winners go to Oshkosh to read their essay and collect prize money Wednesday, February 5.

ATHLETICS
REMINDER: EXTRACURRICULAR ATTENDANCE POLICY - PRACTICE & COMPETITION
***Students must be in attendance for the entire school day in order to practice or compete in an event. ***
Special circumstances may merit exception with prior approval from the Principal/Dean of Students, or designee. To see if the absence can be approved:
- Step 1 - Parent/Guardian notification to office (Mrs. Prado, Mrs. Stadler or Mrs. Dobberstein) at least 24 hours prior to absence)
- Step 2 - If absence is approved, Student picks up signed Excused Slip from office
- Step 3 - Student gives signed Excused Slip to coach/advisor to participate the day of the absence
If an absence is deemed unexcused it will result in ineligibility for participation in extracurricular activities until the next full day of attendance.
