Final Forms MUST be completed before field trip
We have a school field trip next week - Wednesday and in order to make sure your student can attend our Hoops for Hunger field trip to the CMU Women's Basketball game we need to have Final Forms completed. Many families have already completed the required forms online from the start of the school year, but several families still need to log-in and complete the required forms. It is important we have the most updated and accurate contact information in case of an emergency, weather closures, and delays.
We know that winter weather is on the way, and with that comes the possibility of school closings and delays. It is important that we have updated contact information so that we can let you know when this is happening. Mount Pleasant Public Schools moved to FinalForms this year as a platform to manage student and family information. Our notification system uses information from FinalForms to contact families in the event of a closing, delay or emergency. If you have not updated your information in FinalForms yet, please take a few minutes to update your contact info so you can stay in the loop. If you are having trouble accessing FinalForms, or accessing your student, please contact your building's office for assistance. Below you will find a link to FinalForms.
GOOD THINGS
School Board Appreciation Month
To recognize our hardworking School Board Members and their dedication to our staff and students we decided to donate a book to Fancher's Library in honor of School Board Appreciation Month. The book we picked is an "I Spy" book that has been a student favorite over the past few years. This book has helped aid cognitive distractions for students in need and has helped foster relationships by students working with each other and other staff members to find the hidden pictures.
ANNOUNCEMENTS

Colder Weather is HERE
Colder temperatures are here and snow will be too, please make sure your student brings the proper winter gear with them to school. We go outside each day unless it is raining or below 0 for a classroom recess and a lunch recess.
Students need to have warm clothing, including winter coat, hat, gloves/mittens, boots, snow pants. These items can be expensive, if you need help please write in a note in your child's school agenda for their teacher. We can see how we can help.
Fancher Falcons SOAR
We kicked of 2024 at Fancher Elementary reviewing SOAR (Safety Ownership Attitude Respect), to teach and reinforce positive behavior expectations in all areas of the school from the classroom to the playground. Each area of our school day, has a focused set up positive expectations that we teach, model, and practice - on what Safety looks like, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect.
We reviewed Cafeteria expectations as we expanded into the new addition, teachers have been reviewing other areas of the SOAR matrix in their classrooms. As well as, renewing and reviewing their Classroom Social Contracts they developed at the start of the school year.
Our SOAR matrix is at the front of your student's agenda in the pages include for the student handbook, we encourage you to review these expectations at home with your child too.
Daily our students earning Dojo Points for meeting positive expectations, we recognize students who are SOARing with our Positive Office Referrals, Positive Postcards mailed home, and SOAR Student Shout Outs each month. This week we are focusing on RESPECT & OWNERSHIP as we gear up and prepare for an all school field trip to CMU for the Hoops for Hunger basketball game.
We know our students are still growing and developing mentally and socially, so we recognize it is always a work in progress when teaching and reteaching expectations. We utilize restorative practices - including repairing the harm, circle ups, and more.
We appreciate your partnership in supporting our Fancher Falcons to SOAR!

Student Attendance
For safety reasons, families will receive a phone call by 10:40 am for any student that is marked as Absent each morning in Power School. You can deter getting that call from our system by calling us in the morning to let us know of your child's absence and their reason for the absence.
Our codes we use for absences are:
UA-Unexcused Absence
Any absence that has not been reported by a parent or guardian and/or any absence that is not listed as an Excused Absence in Board Policy.
AV-Verified Absence
An absence that the parent verifies or explains. Example: (1) The student doesn’t feel well, and is staying home, but is not visiting the doctor. (2) The family is taking an extra long weekend, vacation, etc.
EA-Excused Absence
Absences that meet the definition of an Excused Absence based on MPPS Board Policy.
*Illness or professional appointments with a doctors note *Death of a relative
*Observance of Religious Holidays
