Principals Message
“Nā tō rourou, nā taku rourou ka ora ai te iwi—with your contribution and mine, we ensure that everyone can thrive.”
This whakataukī serves as a reminder that progress is a collective endeavor. Through our shared commitment, we are able to cultivate and realize aspirations that transcend our individual capabilities, ultimately creating legacies that are far more impactful than any solitary pursuit.
I wish to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the kaiako, kaiawhina, and whānau who have collaboratively supported and positively influenced the tamariki and mokopuna of Te Kura O Te Pāroa. Your dedication and commitment are truly commendable. I hope you enjoy a well-deserved holiday break, and I eagerly anticipate our reconnection in the forthcoming term. I’m looking forward to spending time at my awa, with my whitebait net. Mauri Ora.

Ako- Learning experiences shared by nga tamariki o Rakarahe me Te Karaka.
Whaea Edna and Whaea Takirimu, Matua Eru, Whaea Keita and Matua Pidi.
This term our Kaupapa was tinaku (germinate) seed. Tamariki from both mine and Taki's kids did this mahi with Matua Eru. First they harvested the cauliflower they grew, then they planted cabbage, silverbeet and onion. All tamariki have taken their plants home to grow in their own garden. These plants are for kaimahi to take home and grow in their garden at home for a koha for Rūmaki Purapura. At the moment our tamariki are preparing kūmara to grow and then they will take home next term.
Encarto i Te Reo
On Tuesday 24th of September our Rumaki Takawaenga whānau went to Whakamax to watch Encarto in Te Reo. How awesome it is to see and hear our beautiful reo being used in Disney movies. Kia mau te wehi whānau!
“𝐀ppreciate the sound of our language as it's spoken, a testament to our never ending legacy. 𝐊nowing who we are, we reclaim our identity, held strong by the tikanga and mātauranga passed down through the generations. 𝐄ternally connected, our language carries the strength of our people.”

Curriculum days confirmed for 2025 for Years 0 to 8
The Minister of Education Hon Erica Stanford has approved two dedicated maths and pāngarau curriculum days for 2025 to support Years 0 to 8 teachers | kaiako as they start to embed new curriculum content from the start of next year.
The purpose is to:
● Provide Years 0 to 8 leaders and staff with protected time to participate in PLD focused on understanding the updated Year 0-8 maths or pāngarau curriculum and teaching practice expectations.
● Growing their knowledge, capabilities and confidence using the curriculum.
You will have flexibility over when in 2025 your school | kura closes for these days, with parents and caregivers to be given at least a term’s notice of the actual closure dates decided on. Because schools and kura are closed, it also means relief teachers can participate in PLD.
Teachers versus students netball game.
Thank you to Whaea Ihimana for organising a ‘fun’ teacher versus students game of netball. It was full of fun, laughter and competitiveness. It was great to see some of our senior boys jump on and play today too. Nga Mihi Whānau.
Mufti/School Uniform
Please help us by making sure your tamaiti is wearing our school uniform. They aren’t to wear mufti hoodies to kura. If they are cold, they need to wear a school uniform jersey. The weather is warming up, so we don’t need to be wearing jerseys anymore.
Concerns and complaint procedure.
If you have any concerns, we encourage you to utilize our school's formal complaint process for resolution. Initially, please reach out to your child's teacher, as many issues can be addressed effectively when kaiako are made aware of incidents, particularly those occurring during bus travel without adult supervision. For further information and guidance, we invite you to visit our School Docs website.
