Principal's Message
Dear Elmdale Community,
Recently our school had an Elmdale is Grateful assembly. The first presenter was school counsellor Ms. Wallace. One of the main things about her presentation was gratitude - being thankful and showing appreciation - and equipping students to actively practice gratitude. We want our students to grow in this way because we believe that it will help them lead more healthy and meaningful lives. Then Ms. Friesen, our Learning Support Teacher (LST) talked about students with additional needs and the tools that they use to learn and live productively. Two EAs and students with additional needs shared the stage with Ms. Friesen for story time. It was enriching for students with disabilities to be involved in teaching us about their communication devices. They did a great job!
This year we partnered with Steinbach Community Christmas by collecting nonperishable food items for hamper distribution. It was great to see how students and staff worked together on this project. The response from the Elmdale community was fantastic - you generously donated hundreds of nonperishable items. Thank you!
For these things and much more, Elmdale is grateful!
Merry Christmas,
Mr. Anders Rempel

Christmas Greetings from your PAC
On Monday, January 13th at 6:30pm, in the library, we will be having our Annual General Meeting for PAC. Please come if you are interested in hearing what PAC is all about. We are currently working to make PAC a positive partnership between our school and the community of families we serve. We need more people on our council, including a treasurer and a vice chair. I am a believer in many hands making light work. The commitment is light as we only meet once a month, and as we fundraise sometimes that commitment goes up but only a little bit. If you have any fundraising ideas - or fun activities you would like to see happen - please e-mail them to us! elmdaleparentcouncil@gmail.com
Happy Holidays,
Your PAC
Polar Bear Club
At Elmdale School, we believe that getting fresh air and having the opportunity to play outdoors is an essential part of overall health. For this reason, we want to offer the option of a Polar Bear Recess Club. By implementing a Polar Bear Recess Club, we will allow students, with parent/guardian consent, to have outdoor time when temperatures/windchill indicate an indoor recess. An indoor recess usually occurs when the temperature is minus 30 or below (windchill or actual). This means that on very cold days, you may see some very warmly dressed (and supervised) children playing outside for a maximum of 15 minutes. Thank you to Mrs. Rohne for organizing this club and the many supervising teachers for making sure that students will be able to get some fresh air even when it's really, really cold!
