CMIT South Shines Again in the 2024 MSDE School Report Cards!

We are thrilled to announce that CMIT Academy South has once again proven its excellence! Congratulations on being part of the #1 Charter School in Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS)!

Highlights of Our Success

• We Maintained our 4-Star Rating!

• We have made consistent gains for the past three years!

• We outperformed 86% of middle schools and 85% of high schools across the state of Maryland!

• Our High School earned 70% of the possible points, placing us just 5 percentage points away from becoming a 5-Star school!

This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and excellence of our students, staff, and families. Your commitment to fostering academic success and school pride has truly made this possible.

Are you looking to boost your Spanish skills this year? If so, don't miss the opportunity to attend Ms. Tejeda's Spanish tutoring sessions! She offers personalized assistance for both middle and high school students every Thursday after school from 3:00 to 4:15 PM in room 162. Attached you will find the new sibling preference form for the 2025-2026 year lottery. This form must be submitted along with the online lottery application. The lottery application will be opened from November 1, 2024 -February 7, 2025.

Please note:
Sibling preference is not guaranteed and is based on seat availability for that particular grade level.

Join us for a great after school experience where we have fun with everything art related! This club will be held on Tuesdays from 3-4pm STARTING OCTOBER 15th. It will be located in Mrs. Gadsden's classroom (room 306).

To CMIT parents/guardians

Please encourage your scholar to bring in their water to school or water bottle for refill. The school nor the nurse's office do not provide bottle water or cups to student.

If you know your child is experiencing any of the flu- like symptoms please monitor him/her before sending to school. COVID is still around

Week Recap

The winter sports season is in full swing, and our teams are off to an exciting start! Here’s a look back at last week’s highlights:

• Indoor Track: 🏃🏻‍♂️Our Indoor Track team had their warmup scrimmage on Monday, December 2, at the Sports and Learning Complex. A plethora of student-athletes earned top-three finishes, setting the stage for a promising season. They now look forward to their first official meet this Saturday.

• Middle School Basketball: 🏀
  Both of our Middle School basketball teams continued their undefeated streak with wins against Stephen Decatur MS. The girls dominated with a 37-3 victory, while the boys capped off the night with a 50-34 win.

• High School Varsity Girls Basketball: 🏀
  The Varsity Girls kicked off their season with an impressive 50-27 victory against Bladensburg HS. Great job, Tigers!

Week Ahead

This week promises to be action-packed with plenty of opportunities to cheer on our teams:

• Monday, December 9: Our Middle School basketball teams will host Thurgood Marshall MS. Come out and show your support!

• Wednesday, December 11: The Middle School basketball teams are back in action at home, this time against Oxon Hill MS.

• Thursday, December 12:

  • Indoor Track: The team will compete again at the Sports and Learning Complex.

  • High School Basketball: 🏀
    Our JV and Varsity Boys teams will travel to Largo HS (JV at 5:30 PM, Varsity at 7:00 PM). Meanwhile, our Varsity Girls team will host Largo HS here at CMIT South at 6:00 PM.

• Friday, December 13 - Homecoming Games:

• Varsity Girls Basketball: 🏀
  The team will face College Park Academy at 5:30 PM.

• Varsity Boys Basketball: 🏀
  The boys will follow with a match against College Park Academy at 7:00 PM.

Join us for our December PTO meeting. There will be an Ugly Sweater Contest with prizes, BINGO, and a dessert bar. See attached flyer.

Do you have tennis shoes that you have outgrown but they're still in good shape? Starting October 14th, we will be collecting gently used ATHLETIC sneakers. There will be a donation bin located in the main entry way of the school.

A little more about Got Sneakers ...

Got Sneakers extends the life of and recycles sneakers for those in need. In return, CMIT South will receive up to $7 for each pair donated.
