Dear Parents,
As the weather gets colder, we follow specific guidelines for cold and windy conditions. It's important that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather as we will continue to spend time outdoors.
Please make sure to send your child to school each day dressed appropriately for the weather. Warm coats, hat and gloves or mittens are a must. Also, on wet and snowy days please send your child with boots and snow pants as we will be going outside if the temperature allows.
Be sure to write your child's name in all of their gear. Our lost and found grows every single day!
Erin's Law
Erin's Law Presentations
In two weeks, our Prairie Trails social worker and school psychologist will be presenting age appropriate information regarding Personal Body Safety to all Prairie Trails students. This presentation is in accordance with Erin's Law, which was passed in 2013.
To gain an overview of the program that was written by District 26 social workers in consultation with Northwest Center on Sexual Assault, please go to the River Trails School District Site (www.rtsd26.org). Click on the Families Menu Tab on the top of the page, then click Erin’s Law on the left sidebar.
If you do NOT want your child to participate, please go to the webpage detailed above. You will find the link to Erin’s Law opt out form. You can complete this form online or at your child’s school office.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either the building social worker, principal or Dr. Carie Cohen (Assistant Superintendent for Special Services) at 224-612-7304 or ccohen@rtsd26.org.
Spirit Days are Coming Soon........
Kindergarten Dental Exams
Dental Exams
All current kindergarten grade students are required to turn in a dental exam form signed by a licensed dentist before May 15, 2025. Winter break is a great time to fulfill this requirement! Forms can be accessed online or in the health office.
E-Learning Information
The district will use eLearning days in the event that weather or other circumstances prevent students from learning in the building. If an eLearning day is called, students will receive their learning instructions for the day through the Seesaw application. If your child is in pre-k, you use the packet that was shared from your child's teacher. https://www.rtsd26.org/parents/elearning-information
