UNION GAP SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
MARCH 2022
Superintendent’s Message:
Dear Union Gap Families:
There will be a few changes to the COVID prevention strategies in school starting Monday, March 14th:
- Masks will only be required in the health room.
- The District will send a weekly email to parents concerning COVID cases in the school including the number of positive students and staff members.
- Only students with known health conditions that would place them at high risk for severe illness will be contacted if considered a close contact.
Students and staff who have tested positive for COVID may return to school after five full days of isolation if they are fever-free without the aid of fever-reducing medication and their symptoms have improved significantly. If returning to school/work at day 6, students and staff must test negative on a rapid test, or wear a mask at school until day 10. Without a negative test or choosing to wear a mask, students and staff must isolate through day 10. Our school nurse works directly with parents and staff on their options of returning to school/work as quickly as possible.
Students and staff who are exposed to a COVID positive person may continue to attend school unless they develop symptoms. COVID testing is recommended, regardless of vaccination status, on day 3-5 after exposure and if the person develops symptoms.
We would like to assure our families that the health and safety of our students is our top priority.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you and your family, especially as we face the challenges of COVID-19 together. Thank you for your support of Union Gap School District.
Lisa G. Gredvig
