This Week's NEW Happenings
Looking forward to seeing many families at the Bridgeport Islanders game on March 8th at Total Mortgage Arena. Thank you ot the Father's Club for organizing this event.
Do not forget Spring Ahead one hour, Sunday, March 9th.
Third Grade Scientists
Ms. Powell's scientists are hard at work. They discovered the effect mass has on speed and distance by adding weight to cars. Then they pushed the cars and measured how far the car traveled with different weights.
Students also listened to a read aloud book on important women in history. They learned about Golda Meir, Rosa Parks, Wilma Rudolph and several other women. They were then asked to think about an amazing woman in their life, draw her picture, and write about what makes her amazing! The pictures shows many amazing woman in the lives of our students.
Third Grade Mathematicians
In math class, Mr. Fiore’s third graders used Playdough to demonstrate their understanding of fractional units. Students divided the whole can of dough into equal parts to show halves, thirds and our other benchmark fractions. The results were recorded in their Learn Books.
Ramadan Celebrations
Third graders learned about the season of Ramadan. In Islam, Ramadan is a holy month of fasting and almsgiving. Students learned about the holiday and created posters and lanterns which are a traditional feature of the festival. Ramadan is observed by about two billion people all around the world!
Thank you to the Frenchtown families that attended the Board of Finance meeting on Tuesday in support of the budget. Please use the link below for more information.

THS Musicals Presents
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
THS Musicals is hard at work on this year’s Spring Musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors. Told entirely through song with the help of a main character Narrator, the musical follows preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar, but ends up in jail after refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar’s wife. While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired, Pharaoh. Joseph’s solution to Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and reunites him with his family.
Check out some of the choreography and singing. Tickets are on sale now at thsmusicals.com. Show dates are 3/14-15, 3/21-22 @7pm and 3/16 @2pm. We are sure our students would love to see past teachers come out and support them.

Happenings and Information from Past Weeks
Smart Watches and Cell Phones
Parents we need your support.
Smart Watches:
Smart Watches can be quite distracting. Students should not be contacting parents via their Smart Watch during the school day. In addition, we ask that you refrain from sending your child text messages. We do not encourage the wearing of Smart Watches at all, especially due to their value. There is not a need for access to the technology features of a Smart Watch during the school day, including on transportation.
Cell Phones:
If you have decided to provide your child with a cell phone, please note it must be off and out of sight the entire day. This includes ON THE BUS. There have been several reports of students using their phones while riding school provided transportation. We request that you have continued conversations with your children regarding this topic.
Thank you in advance for your support!
