FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
Good Evening!
We had our first ALICE Drill on Friday. The whole drill lasted about 5 minutes so there was minimal disruption to the school day. Everyone did a great job! On Monday, Officer Piantedosi will be visiting classrooms to debrief and answer any questions students may have.
This is very important - students should not be arriving to school until 8:25am. Students have been arriving early and playing soccer, football and other games outside. This is a big safety concern! There are no staff on duty to supervise students until 8:25am. We are asking you to please not send your children to school early. They must be supervised by an adult from home until our staff is on duty at 8:25am. Also - we are asking for students to leave their sports equipment at home - basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, etc. We have these balls for recess - all brand new this year. Students should not be bringing these from home - they are causing problems before school and on the bus. If these things are brought into school, they will be taken and left in the office for the day. We would appreciate your cooperation with this.
Thank you to all who completed our Back to School Night Survey. If you have not yet done so, please do: Northeast 2024 Back to School Night Survey. This will help with our future planning. Thank you!
We have a committee working to bring an Inclusive Playground to Northeast Elementary School which will be accessible to all of our students. Our committee will be meeting this Thursday, October 10th at 3:30pm in the Northeast Library. We are opening this up to anyone who might want to join. Please reach out to Mrs. Tenaglia if you are interested. Thank you!
The PTO is looking for a community member who may be able to donate their time and expertise in filing taxes (standardly Form 990-EZ, Form 990-N, and Form PC). Please reach out if you are able to help with this.
There is an important virtual presentation this Wednesday about keeping your child(ren) safe online. Please consider attending. Registration is a requirement! Project Safe Childhood
Project Safe Childhood Spanish.
If you need to make changes to your child's dismissal procedure - you must do that prior to 2:30pm by calling the office and speaking to Mrs. Marriott. No changes can be made after 2:30pm and no changes should be made by contacting teachers directly as they may not be able to check messages while teaching. Please send all dismissal changes to Mrs. Marriott before 2:30pm by phone or email: 781-314-5740 or KristenMarriott@walthampublicschools.org.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Tenaglia
