Veteran's Day Photos Needed
In honor of Veteran's Day, we would like to recognize those who have served in the U.S. military and are a part of our school-community. We are collecting photographs to display during our school community-gathering where a portion of our program will be dedicated to honor our military veterans. If you would like to submit a photograph of a LES student's family member to be a part of our photo collage presentation, please submit your family's photograph no later than Friday, October 25, 2024. Submissions will close at that time. Please note, photographs may be shared on our school's website, newsletter, or social media page. Therefore, your submission gives us permission to publish on our school-based platforms. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Foster-Kelson our school's instructional resource teacher and Anchored 4 Life adviser at adfosterkelson@smcps.org

Educational Equity Update
LES Needs a Representative
Below are the meeting minutes from the 9/17/2024 Educational Equity Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting. Minutes are also available on the SMCPS website under the Equity, Engagement, and Early Access Department. September 17, 2024 Meeting Minutes
If you are interested in liaising between the Citizens Advisory and our School Improvement Team, please reach out to Ms. Jameson or Ms. Higgs. We want LES to be represented in the discussions and actions of this group.
Attendance Matters
Your child's attendance is documented in his/her cumulative record. Frequent partial or full day absences can impact your child's ability to make sufficient progress. Please do not jeopardize academic growth for the convenience of picking up early or sleeping in. If your child is demonstrating school avoidance behaviors, please let the teacher know sooner than later. This is a behavior that needs to be remedied early to prevent the development of hard-to-break habits.
If you must receive your child before the close of the school day,
please notify the office staff before 12 noon.
