Spring has sprung at Fletcher Elementary School. The campus is blooming with flowers and kids' smiles in the sunshine. This week we started off with a Duck & Cover safety drill with an evacuation. We had a little bit of a false start at the beginning with the alarm system, but our team was able to get it all together and successfully complete the evacuation in six minutes, thirty-two seconds! That's less than one minute per classroom! Well done Falcons!

Thursday afternoon, the PTA gathered to talk about two upcoming opportunities for our school community. Stay tuned for info about a Movie Night in the park later in April and a Talent Show in May! Also, as it starts to warm up in the afternoon, the PTA will be selling Otter Pops after school as a cool and tasty treat 😎.

Lastly, congratulations to 4th GRADE for winning Week 3 of the March Madness reading challenge. They're at a total of 10,174 pages! AND congratulations to Mina's and Abraham's families for winning the drawing for a $25 gift card to Kohls and Darden Restaurants for filling out both the California Healthy Kids Survey for Parents and the Leader in Me Measurable Results Assessment. Next week, is spirit week! Each day is a different theme to celebrate the onset of Spring Break! The week culminates with "Dress to Impress" day which coincidentally coincides with Spring Picture Day. Friday is also a "Family Friday". Families are invited to join their student for breakfast, celebrate student recognitions, and stay for Java with Jeff (coffee with the Principal)! Read all about it below.

Make your voice heard! As part of our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), parents have the opportunity each year to anonymously share their viewpoints on how effectively the school is meeting their child's needs.

It also provides data on the scope and nature of parent involvement at the school (relationships, activities) and in the child's education in general. CSPS identifies which needs and concerns of parents schools should address in promoting greater involvement. Asking parents to provide their perceptions of the school is an empowering parent-involvement activity.

The second survey we need your support completing is the Measurable Results Assessment. This is part of our Leader In Me programming at Fletcher. This week's Student of the Week is Jaxson in Mrs. Malik and Mr. Catacutan's UTK class. Jaxson is an enthusiastic learner who definitely enjoys school. He always follows directions and is well-liked by the classmates. He is an attentive, confident and polite student. Thank you, Jaxson, for being such an incredible Falcon by exemplifying what it means to be a leader at Fletcher Elementary School!
