Make a Difference in the Leyden Community
One of the biggest Leyden events is coming! Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of community service in the United States. This annual event aims to inspire people to step up, take action, and make a positive difference in their communities.
Leyden students & staff celebrate this day by completing various service projects in the Leyden community. This year's MADD is on Saturday, October 26th at West Leyden.
Ecology Club Spotlight
Last month, the Ecology Club went to a workshop at Morton High School. The students took a garden tour; attended discussion sessions about native species, water, flooding, and biodiversity; participated in a tree planting; and even came back with a tree sapling to be planted at East Leyden. Contact Mr. Gonzales to learn more about the Ecology Club.
Girls Lead Mentoring Opportunity
Apply for Girls Lead, a unique job shadow and mentoring opportunity. Selected applicants will shadow a woman leader in state government for at least three days to see the direct impact women make on Illinois.
Who should apply? Students who demonstrate a strong desire to learn about the inner workings of state government. Scoring of applications will not be grade-based; instead, applicants will be judged on a scale emphasizing diverse achievements, personal resilience, examples of leadership (any size or shape), and community contributions.
Deadline to apply is October 20th. Here's the link for more information!
